I highly recommended Christina for anyone. Christina is an amazing instructor who really cares for each student. She listens to each practitioner and accommodates for all levels but also inspires new growth in them. She is experienced, advanced and knowledgeable. Her teaching is very authentic and she’s learned from many master teachers and follows a very traditional way. She is devoted and passionate about sharing this practice but also living a healthy, wholesome life and genuinely cares about people.
Other than her regular classes, there are private classes and the teacher training program. I’ve taken the yoga teacher training program with Christina and the program was so much more than I imagined and really appreciate and value all that I learned. I had a rich, positive interactive experience with a lot of attention to detail for each class. She truly gives it her all every single day and so much love for everyone. Going through the program has strengthened my practice but my daily life has improved in so many ways off the mat as well.
I grow so much from practicing with her and see amazing transformations in myself and in other students who learn from her. She is there every step of the way. Ashtanga yoga detoxes and nourishes and it is so good for everyone at all stages and ages. There’s so much healing and strength that comes from each practice. There is always cleansing and calming of my mind and body; negativity is washed away.
She continues to inspire me. I am so glad I was able to meet Christina and am very grateful to...
Read moreI've been with the Shala for 6 months and Christina and her teacher Ivane have changed my life. I am a former D1 athlete with a busy life (5 kids, CEO of a business). As part of being that athlete, I had 2 joint surgeries on my knee and shoulder during college years followed up with a complex scope in my mid-40's. While I am active, I found that my range of motion kept deteriorating and I was living with chronic pain, specifically my knee, a clicking hip, semi-fallen arch in my foot that made hiking painful, and neck, shoulder and upper back stiffness. I wanted to deepen my connection with yoga to address these issues but didn't know how until I found Christina.
For the short story, in 6 months I have no more chronic pain at all, anywhere. My range of motion continues to improve. I practice the full Primary Series 3-5 times a week now and am supported with it and the specific needs of my body in such an amazing way. Christina and Ivane are incredible teachers who work with me one-on-one, over Zoom calls as I don't live in Maui. I'm guided to work on small adjustments that profoundly allow me to gain strength and openness. I can take on new activities without being afraid that some part of my body will not cooperate -- i.e. I dance and sing in community plays and the dancing is not hard anymore. I also find I have a core reserve of inner strength that supports me through my day regardless of how tired I may be.
Joining Christina's Shala is the best life decision I've made and I look forward to growing my practice for the...
Read moreI started Ashtanga yoga with Christina a year back. Christina asks for 1 month commitment so she can evaluate our strength and area for improvement. I have hip flexor strain and meniscus tear due to sports. Christina listened to it carefully and gave me modifications and carefully monitored me in poses which required those muscles. I still do have pain whenever I do the poses but it has drastically been reduced and I am could clearly see my progress. She always advises to listen to your body and do poses slowly with full awareness, that you have nothing to prove to others by trying to excel a pose by pushing so hard to the point of breaking your body and its all about the mind and mental healing first. That was one of the best advice for someone who wants to start the practice. I also have anxiety issues and was relying on medication from time to time, but with consistent yoga practice I do not face anxiety attacks anymore. For people who do not know Christina is a student of Nancy Gilgoff and Manju jois. I would recommend Christina’s classes to anyone who wants to take Ashtanga as life time practice. On a side note, I thought I was a pretty flexible person but Ashtanga proved me wrong. The first time I tried the entire series I was soaked in sweat and...
