(Reviewed on: 12/14/2022) The Team Members working at the Visitor Center is extremely friendly, and knowledgeable about the area. We would love to see more support and growth in the merchandise and other displays featured here. There is great opportunity to grow the Visitor Center and have small picnic, gathering areas right outside for visitors to enjoy the surrounding trails, waterfalls, hikes, views.

The reason why this is only 4/5 stars, in order to reach the center, you must pay the $30 USD entrance fee (per vehicle). This fee will give you parking and direct access to multiple hikes (Pipiwai trail all the way up to Waimoku Falls).

If you're visiting Maui and are enjoying the road to Hana and if this is the end goal, please try to get here early (10am latest) to start your hike, as there will be a lot of sunlight still and we estimate at least 2 hrs for moderate speed (this takes into account time to pause for pictures, relaxing, and random off trail adventuring).

A must if you're visiting from...

While we didn’t find any accessible paths to the ponds during our visit, it’s worth noting that we didn’t explore the entirety of the park. There’s possibly more to discover for those who venture further.

The facilities at the visitor center are clean and well-maintained. Admission is $30, but retired veterans have the advantage of free entry. It’s a fantastic opportunity to make use of the veterans’ pass provided by the National Parks. If you don’t already have one, simply show proof of your veteran status, and they’ll be happy to...

This is the other side of the National park when you drive to Hana road. Definitely recommend this place if you are driving to Hana. You don’t need any reservations at this side. Entrance pass can be bought here which is useful for the next day if you want to go to the Valcano side of National Park. The ocean side of this park is beautiful. There are two hikes one is the difficult one because of the muddy trail to see the water fall and bamboo forest and other one is a small easy walk trail where you see the ocean view both are good. But make sure that you have another...
