When we got to the class, I asked for the teacher to help my kid feel confident as he was so nervous before class that he cried. I just basically asked him to show him the moves, so that he would enjoy the class and want to come back. (You'd think he'd want us to come back, but I guess not). What I was asking for is what I would expect at any new class for kids. A person to guide the kids. Mr Hunter said he'd help out and make sure he was taken care of. Well, he lied. Throughout the class, my son struggled. He didn’t know any of the moves/activities, and no one helped him. The leaders consisted of Mr Hunter, a young gal, and an 8 year old. The student leaders need training on how to approach new students. The 8 year old was very rude and walked up and said “Who are YOU?!?” in a rude tone to my kiddo and did nothing in the way of making my son feel included. Why didn’t Mr Hunter introduce the two new kids to his leaders and tell them to help them? Throughout the class, my son had so many times where he was paralyzed with not knowing what to do. This kind of reinforced his fear of the class, so I was pretty peeved at Mr Hunter for not helping him and not caring about what we talked about before the class. At one point, after a few minutes of just standing there, crying, and holding up a whole line of kids, I had to actually get up and help because this class was so disorganized and teachers so uncaring and inattentive. The “leaders” were helping kids who didn’t need help, but my son stood there so upset. The whole reason I chose martial arts was to get my son to have more confidence, as hes very shy. This class was counterproductive to that goal.
I chose to cancel my membership. I received a call from Jeff and he doubled down on how Hunter was having a “bad day”. I did not see that- Hunter looked fine to me that day. I wish he had instead listed ways they would combat the issues I raised. This was a very unfortunate experience.
I will be going to infinity Martial arts in cottage grove instead. They have a plan of action related to how they introduce new kids to classes. Their office was organized. The teacher spends time with character building lessons and student leaders have been trained well. Overall it’s a night and...
Read moreI contacted this location on Sunday for info about prices and classes. It’s now Friday afternoon and they’ve LITERALLY emailed, text from two different numbers, and called once for a total of 19 times!!! In five days!!! I responded to both text numbers and email address and told them it’s excessive and annoying and to dial it back. And I got two different responses on the texts. And now, four hours later, another text!!! This just seems desperate to get people in the door. Major turn off. We will not be showing up for our appointment in four days. I’ve unsubbed from emails and blocked phone numbers. I’ll find somewhere else to go that...
Read moreMy 4.5-year-old daughter loves karate at Infinity with Mr. Hunter. This is the first class since the pandemic that she has taken and enjoyed. I have been impressed with Infinity’s commitment to individually introducing the kids to the studio and with Mr. Hunter’s focused and positive energy. He is extremely skilled at leading large groups of young kids. He has command of the whole group as well as the ability to relate on an individual, personal level. Thank you Mr. Hunter for bringing your all to each class. We notice, and my...
