This evening, I visited the McKenzie EW James & Sons store. Everything but the associates I encountered was a good experience. I walked to the bakery for some last minute Super Bowl snacks. There were two associates (a manager and floor associate) who didn't acknowledge me at all. There was no smile or a "Hello! How are you today?" This wasn't a big deal. As I approached the checkout, there was a woman who was stocking the drink coolers. She stood up, closed the door, looked at me and then walked away without saying a word, even though her open lane light was on. It was my turn next in the other lane. The young man said absolutely nothing to me as he scanned my three items. He gave me the total, and I paid for the merchandise. He lazily extended the receipt and once again said nothing. I forgot to mention the most important part. He was WATCHING THE SUPER BOWL as he was checking!!! I have been a manager for 20 years and I have NEVER had such poor customer service in my life. I had an exchange of words with him and the manager on duty. I will be having a conversation with Emily Lowe tomorrow. No customer deserves that...
Read moreSmall hometown grocery with bakery and deli. The deli serves lunch each day and it seems there are lots of people who take advantage of getting a hot meal every day. I personally take advantage of the baked goods. I can't go in without getting a cake or pie in my basket. I especially love the angel food cake. Yum!! They also have a little area set aside for bouquets and potted plants. 8Above all else is the excellent customer service. Everyone is helpful and kind. The customers even smile at one another. The best part is they carry your groceries to your car for you whether it's a little or a lot. The people who work there often times tell you of an event that is going on in town as they are packing your trunk. They really are proud of their little city and what it offers. I always come out of the store feeling happy. Whatever a person needs, they can likely find it at E.W. James !!! A great...
Read moreI do not understand why I can not carry my own groceries out. While I do agree that a lot of customers do like and need help with taking out their groceries. And that is perfectly fine, but I am not one of them. I paid for them, I will NOT STEAL their buggy. If there is not a place to put the buggy when I am finished, I will take the buggy back inside. The McKenzie location is the only one that does this. I have shopped at other locations and never was told that if the buggy goes outside that an employee HAD to accompany it. I told the cashier that I preferred to sack and take it out myself. I told the man that came up and started taking over that I preferred to do it myself. This may seem petty, but it is how I feel about it. I paid for them therefore it should be my choice. It is NOT the employee’s fault they are just doing what they...
