I recently decided to try and reduce my plastic use, and figured shampoo bars would be a good start. After being very disappointed by the ones sold at Target which were individually wrapped in plastic, I chose to pay Glitz a visit. It was down the street from a job site I was working on so it was very convenient location-wise. The inside was gorgeous, the employees were super kind, and the selection was enormous. I purchased four shampoo bars, three of which will be gifts to family members. The fourth was for me. I used it on my hair today and was so impressed! You hardly need to use any to get a crazy good lather. And it leaves my thick, uncontrollable hair nice and smooth. Depending on the bar you get, your hair will have a pleasant smell after. And the conditioner bars make my hair super soft as well!
I'm so happy I found Glitz, not only because it's better for the environment, but also because I'd much rather buy from a local place than a big store like Target. I'll definitely be using these from now on. Thank you, Glitz Soap Company!
UPDATE:
I just wanted to add that these shampoo bars get an insane amount of lather. I barely have to swipe it through my hair to get a good clean. I'm going out of town for a couple months and will definitely be taking these with me. Also my sisters loved the scents of the ones I gave them for Christmas.
The soap bars are lovely. Only thing I will say is that if you get a soap bar with black in it, your fiberglass tub/shower will start to look dirty. But it washes away easily with a little scrubbing. I've given bars as gifts and they always get...
Read moreTwo days ago I'd have given them 5 stars. The staff is always super friendly and the products smell amazing. We used everything from the hair shampoo to the body butter to the soap, the green tea facial spray and the car freshener. Then I discovered they use diazolidinyl urea in their products, which is basically formaldehyde, and my daughter is very allergic to it. Bath and Body works used to use it, but stopped making products containing it because it's not a good ingredient. I hope Glitz soap follows and removes it from their products or I won't be able to use it anymore :(
Response: There are so many other options for bacteria in water based products that could be use. While you only use a small amount in each product, if I'm using your shave bar, your body scrub, your shampoo bar, your conditioner bar, your body milk, and your green tea facial toner every day, which I was, that totals much much more than just a little bit. I'll still use your soap and your body butter and butter bar, but until you take out the formaldehyde, I have to go elsewhere for the rest, which is...
Read moreI LOVE Glitz products and the shop is adorable. I’ve been there a few times now BUT my family and I just went in to make soap and the customer service was horrible. They weren’t very friendly to begin with. I also told them we were going to make soap but I had to use the bathroom and I had already tried two banks on that street that wouldn’t let me use their restrooms. The one girl in Glitz wasn’t going to let me use their restroom but thankfully the other lady there finally did. We were waiting a very long time for a family before us to make their soap and my mom let the one lady know we’re waiting to make soap also. So we hung out in the store for 40 minutes with my 1 year old which was fine but when it was our turn, they let two women who just walked in to the shop to make soap before us AND then proceeded to tell us they were out of soap. That just doesn’t...
