I'm not sure what the crowd looked like leading up to the last day, but I took my boys on the last day, and it was mildly crowded. It wouldn't have been too bad had I worn comfortable shoes because you'll definitely do a lot of walking. I would suggest you bring cash with you because using your card, they add a $2 fee to every transaction you make. I'd also say to get the ride wristbands as well for unlimited rides. For most rides, kids have to be I believe 54-58 inches to ride alone, and some under that height need an adult to ride with them. They have a measurement bar letting you know the requirements for each ride, so if your kid's height is in the red, they probably won't be able to get on much of anything if they wanted to. Some rides need to have at least 2 people to ride, but they don't tell you that until you've stood for 30 minutes and gotten to the front of the line. For the rides that go higher up, they don't fill those to capacity, they may fill up every two or three to even it out and you're left in line watching all the empty seats go by until the ride is done. I didn't order much, but Nachos from a vendor that didn't have peppers as advertised, so the cheese and chips were ok. My boys said they liked the funnel cake, but they'd eat sugar with rice if I'd let them lol. I did appreciate one of the vendors where you pop the balloons to get a prize, helping the younger players pop their balloons to get a prize . I also liked that they had events inside an air-conditioned building where you could sit and watch. I definitely spent way too much money at the fair between ticket packages, parking, and using my card because I didn't have cash. They do have ATMs around the grounds, but I didn't think to use one, so I'm not sure what the usage fee is on them. I would go back on a more cloudy day because that sun was brutal and wear more...

Here's why...
We were almost tapped out on cash at the end of the night when we were stopped by a woman at a booth and offered a "free" try at darts. I had thrown a few and thanked her for the bit of fun, as I had no intention of playing for a prize. Before I even knew what was happening, we had apparently "traded" the prize I had proudly won at shooting gallery prior for something we had NO interest in. She then went on to mock my manhood in front of my girlfriend, for not wanting to play for an actual prize. On top of that, she said I owed her 10 dollars for the tries that were supposed to be "free" or "just for fun".
Effectively, that (woman) STOLE my prize, my money and soured the experience for us both.
I had never been to the Delta Fair before tonight. Now, I know why. It goes without saying that I don't plan on ever coming back.
.....but if you're one of those people who likes sharing your air with idiotic lowlifes, strung out addicts and lesbian con artists then this is DEFINETLY the...
Read moreAs a Memphian, I've always looked forward to the delta fair as one of the best events in the year, but this year was truly a let down. I walked in with 2 other ppl and while they waited for me at the entrance 3 area, I was looking for a minor family member that had been lost on the way. I made my way closer to the security check area to retrieve that family member and wasn't even outside the entrance/exit gate for 30 secs when a lady stops me on my way back in and tells me I need to get new tickets because theres no re-entry. I tried explaining the situation and she still demanded that I pass through security again and buy new admission tickets even when I hadn't even passed the entrance area into the actual fair grounds themselves. I found it completely ridiculous considering there were kids running back through that area and yet, she said nothing. I was sure the fair would be worth it and paid for yet another admission ticket. Unfortunately, the actual fair was a complete disappointment because there seemed to be more vendors than rides... it was...
