Went here with a large party for a special occasion. We all had a great time, but the food was not much a part of that. Our server Fredrick was wonderful, but the food sorely lacked. I know things can get hectic with large parties, but the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, and while some things can be looked past, some cannot.

Almost all menu items were ordered, and there was not a single steak in my area of the table that was cooked properly. I ordered a cowboy ribeye and it came out raw on the inside. I never send food back, but I cannot eat a steak that is raw except for a slight sear on the outside. The server handled this well, and when the steak came back it was just as I ordered-medium rare. This is forgiven, accidents happen, especially with large groups. However this was only the first issue we had with our steaks. My cowboy ribeye turned out to be the best steak at the table, and this isn't saying much.

I really enjoy seared fat on steaks, it renders nicely and can be eaten if cooked properly. Unfortunately, this restaurant does not do anything to the side fat on any of the steaks. They left a quarter inch of it in my steak and it was flabby and inedible. My 24 oz steak probably had 6 oz of fat I had to cut off and was wasted. All it takes is a minute or two of searing the side of the steak over the grill and that fat turns delicious. But for everyone at our table, it was inedible and frustrating to deal with.

A few people at the table ordered the porterhouse, which is advertised as 30 oz. Of the three that were in my area of the table, none of them were done properly. The best one was medium rare on the strip side, however totally raw on the filet side. The worst was well done on the tip of the steak, grading to medium rare at the top. All were ordered medium rare, and all were very disappointing.

A 10 oz filet was ordered and it was otherwise decent, but raw on the inside.

One last note about the steaks--the inconsistency stems from a fire that is poorly managed. It was obvious that there were hotspots and cool spots based on the differences in doneness within some of the steaks. However what really bothered me was that the fire was not hot enough. The sear was poor, and what resulted was an eighth of an inch at the edge of each steak being cooked well done before the inside was either raw or medium rare. This can lead to a very unpleasant mouthfeel of the well-done areas flaking apart like sand, and the raw areas chewing like gum.

The best entrees ordered were the salmon and lobster tails. Both were very moist and bursting with flavor. The price of a lobster tail is high, but it was absolutely delicious. My asparagus was very good as well, lightly cooked and with a satisfying crunch.

I had such high expectations coming in and seeing inch and a half thick steaks in the refrigerator, but I was very disappointed. For the price we paid for our food, there is no excuse for what we experienced. I know this place has promise from the glimpses of brilliance that we managed to find, however as a steakhouse I would hazard against it at this time. I doubt I will find myself here again, but if I do, I'll be asking for Frederick and...

Sent an email to inquire about reservations for a party of 8 for my mothers 53rd birthday. I Received a call stating that they would be happy to serve us however we would be split into two tables of four close by. We were perfectly fine with these accommodations due to their Covid policy.(Im a Covid nurse btw so I was totally understanding) HOWEVER at no point during this conversation did anyone mention that the entire party had to be present at the scheduled time for us to be seated. The only thing that was mentioned was A fifteen minute grace period to hold the tables if guest hadn’t arrived. My fiancé and I arrived fifteen minutes before time to get in and make sure that everything would be in place. We entered and stated that we were there for the Smith party. At that time we were told that they were finishing some tables and would let us know when our party was ready. 7pm (our actual reservation time) came around and we were then notified by Riley (the hostess) that the entire party would have to be there before we were seated. That was no biggie, by this time 4/8 guest were present and I’m not a scientist but if you’re only seating 4 at A table anyway I don’t see why the 4 that were present could not be seated. We didn’t complain at that time for the simple matter that our guest were in fact late. So around 7:20 the other guest hadn’t showed and we asked Riley could we go ahead and be seated and if the other’s arrived they’d be seated? Riley again stated NO and that everyone has to be present to be seated. At this point my fiancé tried to reason with her that the other 4 guest were in fact en route ten minutes away. She then went back and forth with him about the guest being late while my parents stood there in disbelief. She finally changed her mind and decided to seat the 4 that were present. At 7:30 2 more guest arrived and stated they were with our party. She informed them that she would place them on the waiting list. The guest explained that they were with the party and Riley raised her voiced and stated “Yes, but because you are LATE..(with emphasis)..we can’t seat you with the party “. This young lady was EXTREMELY RUDE! Not to mention she was training a new employee. The way she spoke to us and our guest was absolutely UNACCEPTABLE and to have her train someone with her behavior as an example is absolutely ABSURD! ! I have NEVER in my 7 years of patronizing this business been spoken to in that manner. If this business continues to have a person like this as a representation of their hospitality they’re definitely going to crash and burn. I’d hate to see a restaurant we once loved decline because they lack hospitality and respect. Even if there was a miscommunication about everyone being present on time, there is still no excuse for the lack of professionalism.I Don’t think I or any of my family will be returning anytime soon. We drove an hour from ARKANSAS to be highly disappointed Thanks for ruining my moms 53rd birthday. I’m pretty sure it’s one she’ll...

Went there for a family special occasion, My daughters "Sweet 16" birthday dinner and had not been there in awhile. We ordered the appetizers of: 5 Cheese Spinach Artichoke Dip with tortilla chips and also the Sizzling Sauteed Mushrooms In seasoned butter & wine.. These were good. The manager, whom I assumed was wearing a green shirt walked by and asked how we were doing while eating the appetizers, then left.

We ordered 14 oz NY Strip steak ($46) well done. (small steak in photo) We also ordered a 20 oz Ribeye steak ($57) medium well and a 30 oz Porter House steak ($62) medium well, we also were both having the "loaded" twice baked potato.

The NY Strip steak was dry and bland. It was cooked SO OVER well that it had NO flavor or any texture. L00K at how black it is in the photo. My wife could not cut it and ended up taking it home for the dog.

The Ribeye steak and Porterhouse steak were also OVERCOOKED. The Ribeye was like sawing wood, it did have some pink to it but very tough. The Porterhouse was a mixture of WELL DONE on one side of the bone and medium rare on the other side. Tough on one side and tender YET not cooked all the way on the other side.

The "loaded" twice baked potatoes were both NOT hot, not even warm as per the photo, the grated cheese didn't even melt on them. Either they needed to stay in the microwave longer or the salamander for the cheese to melt.

I told our waiter about the potatoes being cold and the steaks not cooked properly when he returned to check on us. He stated he had told his manager and that the manager was going to come see us.

By the time I paid the check OVER $270, no manager had come to see us or ask about our meal. Just did NOT care.....smh

As we left, the manager was standing at the main entrance talking to a couple, he looked and nodded at us and continued his conversation with the couple at the front never attempting to stop us or ask us about our meal.

I chose NOT to make a scene about this due to the fact it was a special family occasion. I am at a loss as to how it has gone down so low like this, either by the cooking staff or the quality of the meats they serve.

I had wanted to go to Fleming's Prime Steakhouse OR Stoney River Steakhouse but my daughter chose this location. Sad to say, I will NOT be returning and will NOT be recommending this establishment to anyone. The service and wait staff was great, it is just the quality of the meal you are served that is NOT worth you having to experience.

Buyer beware,,, save your money and temper for a better place to dine and share special...

Food was the redeeming factor at my recent visit. Everyone In my party was satisfied and even pleased with the quality of their food. However, the service was horrible! Our waiter was named Jacob and was a super nice guy, BUT he would rather talk to tables than wait on them. We overheard an adjacent table comment to Jacob that they thought he had been kidnapped because he disappeared for a long period of time. It was over 30 minutes after we ordered before our salads and bread were delivered. Our repeated requests for bread were ignored. The greatest disappointment of the experience was the overwhelming and sickening presence of flys. Not just a fly, but LOTS of flys...EVERYWHERE! Flys were landing on our heads, our food, and our table. But on a positive note, it kept us occupied while we were waiting on our food. I even had time to take this picture of three flys. There seems to be a complete disregard for cleanliness in this restaurant. As you see from the picture it is old and grungy. These are problems that can be fixed, but it will take better management, a remodel, and lots of fly strips.

This review is only for the Friday burger day lunch special for The Butcher Shop Steakhouse. On Fridays only, this restaurant has a burger lunch special off which they take their steaks from the week and grind the meat and make steak burgers. I have been coming to this lunch special multiple times in the past years. It is always good. Currently the hamburgers/cheeseburgers are $11. They also have grilled salmon and catfish as well as bratwurst. Buns, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pickles are provided. Condiments are available. The cost also includes a bag of chips. Fries and tater tots are an extra purchase. Drinks are also extra. The burgers are probably around 1/3 lb. and grilled on an opened flame. The meat is juicy and typically cooked to doneness of around medium to medium well. The ambiance is noisy but par for most lunches that have a lot of folks gathered. Plenty of seating areas including an outdoor patio. Service is attentive.
