Use this company at your own risk. I'd very much LIKE to say that Harry delivered the goods that matched his degree of his self-confidence, but it's just not so. I went in with a functioning computer to have Dropbox removed because that's tricky. Harry said he could do that, but that my hard drive was about to crash, and upsold me to an SSD drive, saying that the conversion would take about two hours. (It still isn't clear that he understood that the Dropbox removal process was not a simple uninstall.) Four days later, he still had not delivered as promised, instead offering a daily excuse for not completing the job. Far more serious is that he ended up losing multiple programs, settings and applications, mail and address book. On day 4 my husband went in and sat for several hours until the computer was put back together and returned. Harry re-installed Win 10 along with the unwelcome bonus of many of his personal private devices and a pernicious malware file with a pop-up reminder every 15 minutes. It was necessary to hire a competent firm, Mazzola Tech, LLC, to correct the mess he left me with, a remedial process still in progress at the time of this writing. The most charitable spin I can put on Harry's damaging failure to do the work contracted for is that he knows a lot less than he thinks and claims he does. The bottom line, however, is that the amount of damage far exceeded any slight benefit I received from this...
Read moreI took my older laptop to R & W to address a problem logging on. It had been infected with a virus and locked up when trying to enter the correct password. Harry made a few tests and felt he could recover the data as well as correct the login problem. He quoted me what I felt was a fair price. A few days later Harry called me with an update. It seems the hard drive was not working correctly and the fan had disintegrated. Age had taken its toll. He told me that trying to recover the data reformat the drive and restore it to the existing hard drive may be throwing good money after bad. He had an alternative offer which was to replace my old computer with a gently used computer he had in inventory. He felt that he could restore the files to the newer computer, upgrade the OS plus I would have a more modern, faster machine. The proposed price adjustment to cover the replacement computer was very fair. I accepted his offer and stopped in at R & W the following morning to pick up the computer. Picking up the computer was not that simple. Before Harry gave me the computer he reviewed what had been done, enlightened me on using Windows 10 and reviewed several programs to make sure they functioned correctly. Only then did we complete the transaction. Harry is very concerned about his customers and goes out of his way to accommodate them. I only wish all merchants were...
Read moreI called about a broken laptop screen, and he told me to bring it in, because he couldn't tell me over the phone whether or not he could fix it same day without seeing it in person. So I brought the computer in, and he took it in the back and told me he wouldn't have the part necessary for the better part of a week, and that the repair would be $200. I need my computer, so I declined to wait that long. He then told me I'd have to pay a $50 "bench fee". I was not told there would be a $50 fee just to be told he couldn't fix it - I would have appreciated knowing that prior to going in. Further frustrated by being told I would have to pay another additional $5 to have him manually enter my cc info. Since I wasn't prepared to pay him a "bench fee", I didn't bring my wallet and didn't have my card on me. All in total, paid almost $60 and still walked out with a broken computer screen. Lastly, when I took the computer to my IT department within the hour of leaving his shop, they found he hadn't screwed the screws all the way back in, and one was missing. So basically I paid almost $60 to have a poorly put back together, still broken laptop. Total...
