I grabbed some guitar strings, nobody at front desk, waited 5 minutes, visit the back of the store. The owner is talking to a guy, I pick up a guitar for another 5 minutes (I do put the strings in the corner of my pocket), I headed back to pay for my strings.
I'm greeted with a smiling lady (who eerily crowded by space as she stepped out of the restroom) I tried to get out of her way but she just continued to follow as if she was breathing down my neck, she then asked if I needed assistance, I say, "yes mam, I'm buying strings". As I am paying for my strings she suggest that she could call the law on me, because she thought I was trying to steal. (It's important to note I was on the phone with a friend as well, not the best situation awareness). I end the phone call of course.
Well the younger me thought, well this is ridiculous, I will tell the owner that she being very rude. Well he said, "that's my wife you are talking about". Then I knew I was at a loss. lol
So he immediately takes her side, respectfully I understand, but I pressed him to call the law and pull the videos. I gave him my information that was on me, and continued to plead that she was mistaken and I clearly had no intent to steal.
Let me be clear, the strings were mostly visible about 75% or more, I understand the concern she had, but at any point I could have walked out of the store had I had any intentions. I just wanted to be vindicated.
Well, I go back to my truck and I change shirt and fix my hair because I thought she might have judged my dingy green christmas gift wrapping shirt and my messy greasy hair.
The point was to bring additional information but look presentable, plus I thought this was all a big mistake. Well, at first he didn't recognize me and asked if I needed help. I clear that up easily. Then he goes on a tirade making crazy accusations misspeaking or trying to guess who's son I was, making wild accusations about how I must be that wild son of Bobby's. Once he figures out who I am, he makes a phone call to a supposed family member or friend of the family, who said, "yeah that is blah blah blah's grandson he always steals". After that I was done, he refused to pull the tape and refused to call the law.
I am a very forgiving person, but looking back it was people like this that shaped how I saw adults. Now I'm very disappointed being an adult that this wasn't handled differently, no compassion, no effort to understand. I can see where people walk away from faith, especially when those who profess on practice...
Read moreI searched for an authorized Browning dealer and they were one of the names that popped up. I read reviews like this one and decided to make the 2 1/2hr trip there. I was not disappointed! Got an impossible-to-find Browning X-Bolt Eclipse in 7mm-08 and a Warne rail to mount a short scope on that wouldn't mount with regularly spaced rings. The entire group was super attentive, friendly as family, and knowledgeable about their products. The best part is I got this rare piece for $100 less than anywhere else that advertised one as out-of-stock! I will be making the drive back before...
