I don't usually write reviews unless I'm highly disappointed but I felt compelled to write so someone else won't have to go through what I did.

My first time there was on the day of my Microlinks install & when I got there ON TIME and Allison was still working on someone else and told me she needed more time. In an effort to be understanding, I walked to Starbucks down the street to sit and have a coffee until she was ready.

Allison is a nice lady but my issue was with the micro links service I got from her over a week ago. I'm a black woman with natural hair & my hair has been natural for over 10 years. Anyone who's natural + black knows how hard it is to maintain our hair and make it grow. My hair was in the best condition it's ever been & I worked so hard to get it there.

The micro links I got with Allison were so tight on my scalp that I had to ask her to loosen them & even after that, I couldn't sleep and had headaches. I scheduled my appt. to REMOVE the micro links the SAME NIGHT of the day of the install Because I was going on vacation I had to keep them on when I wish I would've had them taken off the same day. Once I got them out ONE WEEK LATER, I can feel how frail my hair was. It's not until I got home I realized just how much my hair broke in JUST ONE WEEK! I lost so much length it's still unbelievable to me. I'm very angry sad and disappointed that this happened.

If you're a woman who cares at all about their natural hair, DO NOT GET MICRO LINKS WITH ALLISON. The damage wasn't worth it & I wish she advised me otherwise because I was already skeptical. She even said after when I went back to take the links off that the weave I had "didn't match well" - which she could've told me this on the day of the service.

The micro links literally ripped my hair out. And you can see the difference because the part where my hair was left out is normal and obviously longer.

In conclusion, there are no "false narratives" taking place here. I'm simply telling my story from MY experience. I am not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, I'm simply using this review section for what it's for. I never said “I didn’t wash my hair” at the beach. That’s ridiculous & not even possible. I washed my hair several times during my vacation. It’s highly unprofessional of a business owner to be putting words in my mouth (which she did several times in the response to this review & I keep having to edit because of the lies) & treating this review like a reality TV show instead of just taking the critique & doing better next time.

Regardless of the details, my natural hair is DAMAGED due to this service. Allison should've followed HER own policy and DECLINED my service since she didn’t force a consultation but took the money. It's not up to me to enforce the rules of...

The salon is as cute and pink as it shows on Instagram. I knew the experience would be amazing as soon as Tariya greeted me with a bright smile.

Tariya (tar-ee-ah) and Kari (kah-ree) newest AJ member) were both so pleasant to have taking care of me during my silk press appointment. Outside of talking about what I was looking for with my hair, we were talking about so many different topics. I even ended up hanging around for almost another hour (I think, I wasn't tracking the time) because the environment was so comfortable to continue talking in.

On the silk press itself, oh my God. Tariya's 18 years of experience shows in the final result. She knows what she's doing and she's honest about the condition of your hair. Also, if you don't have the scalp detox treatment in your appointment, ADD IT IN. My scalp gets buildup like crazy and the detox is so cooling and refreshing. I did consent to being filmed for social media, so if you want to see my before and after, you'll look for a white shirt with horizontal black stripes - that's me!

OMG where do I start? Firstly, they offer consultations which was very important to me and for first time clients a consultation is included in the service. I booked a new client silk press with Allison, and when I tell you it was absolutely amazing. The staff is super kind and professional. They offered drinks and snacks. Made sure I was comfortable the entire time and the vibe was just… chef’s kiss. The scalp massage and steam treatment made me fall asleep, lol. The scalp scrub has my scalp feeling so clean and light. My hair is so smooth and weightless, very flowy. I left with a regimen and recommendations to keep my hair healthy in-between trims.I can tell she cares about the health of the hair in addition to making sure you feel good about how it looks. Oh by the way, the rosemary shampoo they use is top notch, I love the way it had my scalp tingling. Honestly I have nothing but great things to say.
