Such an adrenaline rush! I've done some ziplining with my kids at other parks, but Empower's Tree Top Zip Tour offers longer, more exciting ziplines. That, coupled with your tour guide's running encouragement and commentary on the surrounding environment enhances the experience even more. They also had more safety policies and procedures in place that made me wonder about the other places I've taken my kids! Besides ziplining, they offer a variety of adventures like hiking and survival programs for those who want to stay closer to the ground. :)
They're located on the grounds of Salamander Resort, although you don't have to be guests of the resort to do their activities -- but an overnight stay or weekend would make for a terrific staycation for DC...
Read moreWe had a great time zipping through the treetops in Middleburg with Empower. The experience was really enhanced by two great guides - Summer and Chris. They were absolutely fantastic and made for a very fun and very memorable experience. Their cheery spirits and energy really loosened up the group and gave everyone a positive & excited attitude. My only critique would be the pictures - they really weren't worth the upcharge. This isn't the fault of the guides - it's just that GoPros are notoriously bad at taking still photos (much better at video), so the quality isn't great - not to mention they're taking as you're flying through the air so they're quite fuzzy. I highly recommend the ziplining, just recommend passing on the...
Read moreThis was EXHILARATING!!! Honestly though, my fiancé and I were on the fence about zip lining while it was snowing, but this was the most amazing winter experience! We literally flew treetop to treetop through a winter wonderland. Matt & Renee were the absolute best guides and struck a perfect balance between safety-first expert experience and belly laughing fun. I would totally hang out with these guys outside of the adventure. You can also tandem zip if you’re a little nervous! Amidst zipping through the forest, we also saw a huge family of deer. Matt also recommended a great place to eat after, the Red Horse Tavern, for some beer battered fish and chips. Man, what a day. This was a highlight of our time at...
