I come to this coffee shop in Middleburg almost every weekend during the summer.
The coffee is alright, nothing particularly special, but not bad at all.
The food though I simply can't recommend. Here's my opinion of three of the menu items I've ordered over the last few weeks.
Reuben: terribly soggy bread. Tasteless sauerkraut. Otherwise ok sandwich.
BLT (ordered and paid for extra bacon): I've attached a photo. This sandwich was pathetic. There were literally two pieces of bacon on the sandwich. That's with ordering extra bacon. I asked the server if the sandwich was made correctly, if that was "extra bacon" her answer was yes that was "extra.". I'm assuming if you order the BLT normally they just blow some of the smell of bacon over it and serve you that. I was able to ask for additional bacon, which made up for it somewhat.
Smoked Salmon Bagel: I suppose I made the mistake of assuming this place would know how to make a standard smoked salmon (Lox) bagel. They don't. The smoked salmon isn't the cold smoked salmon normally used on bagels, but instead cooked. This, of course, makes the bagel dry and doesn't taste nearly as good with the onions, capers, and cream cheese that traditionally goes on a smoked salmon bagel. I made the mistake of asking the server if they served a "smoked salmon bagel" I guess I should have clarified that I was asking about the same cold smoked salmon that every other sandwich place uses on their bagels, not the cooked kind.
To top it off the food service is terribly terribly slow, especially for such simple food. Do not come here if you are in a hurry.
There are other good places to get coffee or a sandwich in Middleburg. Don't be enticed just because this place is right off main Street. If you want a sandwich, simply go somewhere else. Parking will probably be...
Read moreVisited 40 minutes before closing on Sunday (3:20pm) and I was treated like I was already getting on the way of their closing! The staff was not friendly or welcoming, the items were limited and served in a very casual way. While the business closes at 4pm on Sundays, I guess you are not welcome anywhere close to that time. Here is the full experience: I approached the counter to order 40 minutes before 4pm and they seemed like they were already cleaning up for closing. I kindly ask if they are still open. The guy behind the counter looked at the other person and jokingly asked "are we still open?", momentarily he turns back to me and says "it depends what you order"...I was like okayyyy...Then he started explaining that their coffee machine overworked the last five days...!! and it's not working, so they can only offer regular drip coffee. I hesitantly ordered that, which was given in a go cup (ok, this might be standard) and also I ordered a muffin which was given to me, just casually wrapped in a piece of paper, no plate or bag, even though I was about to sit and sip my coffee in the store. The atmosphere was kinda dark (but cosy) and now I wonder whether they had turn off part of the lights too. Needless to say that by 3:30, the small display with all the muffins/cookies/pastries was all emptied to storage and cleaned up and multiple customers who came in after me had nothing to see or to order and they were told the same story about the coffee machine. By 3:45, a vacuum cleaner was brought out and...
Read moreToday while sharing coffee and great conversation with a friend the manager rudely threw everyone out. I asked if he owned the business and he stated he was the manager. I wanted to know why everyone was being asked to leave at 1:42pm. And the manager was yelling at me when I questioned him. I’ve never been thrown out of a business with everyone else at the whim of an angry manager. I was so startled I left my wallet behind I’m from out of town so I had to make my way back to the locked shop and request they give me my wallet. What has happened to customer service. If you’re closing because you were “so busy yesterday” and yelling at customers then the owners need to find a new manager. He told me not bother to come back…. Mind you , all I did was ask his title and why the shop was abruptly being closed. No gentle announcement. No kind request. Just we’re closing now and you need to kea e. When I came back for my wallet he and another employee were resting comfortably in the overstuffed leather seats talking. Please owners…. Deal with your staff. I’m in town often and enjoy your shoppe up and...
