Wow!! I can look forward to going to Middleburg for the dining again. Prior to coming to Tremolo I was beginning to find my options were slim. I was resolute about finding something this time, even if I had to travel out of town. I come to Middleburg for horses but thoroughly enjoy sitting down at a good restaurant scene. Being a party of 1 sometimes can be a little interesting. I found Tremolo and couldn't believe the menu. I made a reservation just in case and am glad I did! When I walked in, there was a windows seat with two chairs that I was sat at. I LOVED that space. I could have a view of the street and feel like I was in my own space without having to be on my phone, etc. I had a Margarita and started with the Chips & Dip which was a fun and delicious item. My server Joe asked if I wanted anything else and I told him what I planned to have that night and told him to just time it all for me. He did a PERFECT job at that! Next I had the Oysters - OH MY GOSH, probabaly the best I've ever had because you could still taste the oysters- it wasn't all butter and garlic. I'm VERY picky about seafood. They were fantastic. Then I had the steak which was delicious also. Rounded out the meal with a yummy bread pudding for desert and another super Margarita. Joe and I shared some great conversations which was so nice and he invited me back to see the kitchen. I can't believe how great the food was but after seeing the minimalist kitchen, I was REALLY impressed. It was treat to meet the owner who is great at his craft but still leads by example whether it is making a drink, serving a dish or as he said "putting on the apron". I am just in awe that really great restaurants/restauranteurs DO still exist. It was the perfect marriage of casual and fine dining which is my favorite. I cannot WAIT to get back to Tremolo! I have been back in NJ dreaming of that meal and that very...
Read moreThis review will sound conflicted because before I start with the bad, I want to say the food was tasty. There were some original flavor combinations, and the staff was mostly nice. Now, the bad thing is this place can only get one star. I have never had service so slow that I have decided to cancel half of our meal, all of which were the hot items, and walk away because I had already spent close to two hours. This restaurant warns you as you get here, it will be 15 minutes between dishes. In reality it was closer to 30 to 45 minutes between dishes and one dish was four slices of tuna which took a total of three minutes to eat. My wife and I spent a hefty sum for what could be described as an Amuse-bouche and three cold appetizers. The staff had no problem canceling the food that had not been fired, but did not apologize and reminded us that dishes were supposed to take 10 to 20 minutes between dishes. I was offended that they were implying we were impatient. Ultimately, my wife and I picked up food from another place on the way home. I'm highly disappointed that they are overly priced and epically slow, which is why they...
Read moreWe’ve been to this restaurant several times as locals and have always enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, the service has consistently felt off, and this last experience left a particularly bad impression.
We didn’t have a reservation, so we walked in and were greeted by a staff member standing next to what appeared to be the manager or owner, who was on the phone. She kindly offered to check with him about availability. When he got off the call, we were standing directly in front of him, but he didn’t so much as look up or acknowledge us. Instead, he asked his staff what we wanted and, without making eye contact or addressing us directly, said they were fully booked.
We left, but something didn’t sit right. I checked Resy.com immediately after and saw several open time slots within the next 15–30 minutes. I considered going back in to clarify, but at that point my husband and I agreed we weren’t about to dine somewhere that made us feel so unwelcome.
It’s disappointing because the food is good, but hospitality and respect matter just as much, if not more. We had hoped for better, especially as...
