I’d rate zero stars if I could. They increased their rate by almost double with no notice. We had no access to our unit for two weeks because they were having issues with their gates that they never made their customers aware of. We never had any issues with the previous company but it’s been constant headaches since cubesmart took over, they are always adding fees and increasing rent, the customer service is deplorable at best. $300 a month for a tiny box that is hit or miss if you even have access to is robbery. On top of all of this they couldn’t even get our mailing address right to send their new policies (they claim that this was the previous company’s fault- which is impossible because we never had any issue with the previous ownership). The biggest mistake I’ve ever made is believing that cube smart was an upstanding business. They are now threatening to sell my family heirlooms because of their own misdoings and incompetence for basic office work like sending mail and correspondence. This is theft and coercion in its clearest form, no notice of any increases, no notice of any changes in policy, never signed any contract with this new company and yet they threaten me to pay ridiculous amounts of money I never agreed to. I never signed any legal contract with this company agreeing to these rates or policies. They are thieves, save yourself the stress and go with an honest company that would charge transparently and appropriately, and can at least treat customers fairly and send mail to their actual address. The top-notch customer service Ed and Joe, the managers at the local CubeSmart in Middlefield Connecticut is refreshing and is what’s missing these days with because of automation and AI! When will big business realize that it’s all about real life customer service, not the elimination of humans. These robots that are running big business these days, meaning lazy CEO’s, don’t get it! They opt for minimal expense reduction by eliminating humans in favor of technology, believing that it goes right to their bottom lines, however, the greater correlation really isn’t a positive correlation overall. What big businesses fails to see is the loss of bigger individual sales, for speed and expense reduction with the use of AI bots, versus real human beings. Personally, I tend to spend more money with a company when a live person is involved and explains to me the services and shows me the value of their services… CubeSmart clearly understands this, hence why they have the best customer service, you experience a live person not automation!    Read moreSeveral months after CubeSmart took over ownership of the storage units at 129 Meriden Rd, Middlefield, CT we discovered mold on the items in our "Climate Controlled" storage unit. The manager could care less and the insurance we paid for denied our claim because they don't cover mold. CubeSmart also removed the rodent traps that were in place at the entrances to the facility. CubeSmart could care less that there was mold. The "Climate Controlled" units aren't climate controlled. Nothing is done to control humidity. They are only temperature controlled. I guess they don't know the definition of climate controlled. hint: it includes controlling humidity as well as temperature.
I would stay away from any triage facility owned...
