Diny's Jewelers — Local services in Middleton

I recently took about 20 pieces of heirloom jewelry and my wedding ring to Diny's to have appraised. Most of the jewelry was appraised in 2009 (another state) as part of a family estate and a few were given to us by one of other mothers. Before selecting Diny's I first did a lot of online research about what credentials to look for when seeking an appraisal. Of all the jewelers in the Madison area, Pete Diny is the only one who is both a Graduate Gemologist (GIA) and a Master Graduate Gemologist Appraiser (IJO). I needed someone who was knowledgable of old jade, vintage watches and pearls. When first interviewing Pete I said that I had a lot of old jewelry but I didn't know if the pieces were costume or real. He said to bring everything in and he would be happy to look through what I had. I set up an appointment. We had agreed that he would only do a formal appraisal on jewelry that he thought would come in with an insurance value over $1000. He looked at all the pieces I brought in, separating out the costume jewelry and the pieces above and below the minimum. He was very pleasant to work with, respectful of the pieces and extremely familiar with older jewelry and took pictures of the pieces to be appraised. I could tell right away that he really enjoys looking at and appraising estate jewelry. I was given a copy of the picture of the collection he would appraise to take with me. I brought the pieces in on a MOnday and the appraisals were ready before Friday. I knew that I could have paid a lot less to have the jewelry appraised somewhere else. I had some appraised at another long time jeweler a few years ago but the appraisals came back with no reference images on the write up. Each Diny's appraisal includes a picture of item - which I appreciated as some of my jewelry is very similar in appearance. Diny's also offers a lifetime appraisal so I can bring in a piece anytime to have it reappraised. Great. Because the value of gold has increased 4x from 2009, I was pleasantly surprised that the value of the pieces appraised in 2009 increased at least 4x. On MOnday I contacted my insurance company to increase the insurance value of my wedding ring since I enjoy wearing it. Having the lifetime appraisal policy is well worth the cost of the appraisals. I felt confident that I received a professional appraisal and that my jewelry was in good hands at all times. I would highly recommend...

We were recommended Diny's by a co-worker of mine, and we decided to go see what their store had to offer. From the second we walked in, we felt like we were treated like family. The Diny's staff is very knowledgeable, flexible, and willing to work with you on any custom design. They are also happy to provide you anything "off-the-shelf" that they offer as well. We ended up having them make our wedding bands, and both came out perfect, and were exactly what we wanted. The best part is that any time we preferred to go with a cheaper option, or were looking for a way to save some money, they did whatever they could to help us do that.
