Scrappy's Auto Service — Local services in Middletown Township

I have been on a 4 year search for the perfect used medium-duty low chassis cab-over truck under $15,000.00. I may go to my grave still searching.

But, I have also been on a quest for old-time service, commitment, ethics, value, and regard for the customer. I will not go to my grave still searching.

Scrappy the Elder, Scrappy the Son, and, it would seem to me, all Scrappy the employees, were honest, direct, fair, and helpful. I visited multiple times, and purchased nothing (reference opening sentence).

I have, at least once, been led on guided tours to exit signs at other "Service-oriented" establishments, (for wasting an employee's time(!)), while I was on a fact-finding mission.

My fact-finding missions to Scrappy's Auto Service were frequent , productive, and (I would hope) mutually pleasant, because at no time did I feel anything other than a company-wide desire to provide answers to questions, solutions to concerns, and suggestions to explore possible options (other than leaving).

The premises were clean, organized, and in good repair. And the customers I spoke with left me feeling confident that Scrappy's reputation and credentials may exist long after I have purchased the...

My review should be the most important on all of scrappy’s reviews ever. The owner Gary is one of the few left of his kind. He is true to his word and he does things right. They have custom built two trucks for me and done work on another. He’s not my main mechanic and I brought it back to my main mechanic and he said that on a 10-year-old truck I had Gary Build for me I might possibly have an issue in the next three or four years. Gary called me to make sure I was happy and my mechanic was happy with the truck that he created for me and without hesitation he had me bring it back in so he could go the extra mile and replace a radiator that only had slight signs of a possible issue on a 10-year-old truck. People come from miles around to have Gary do work for them. I’m one of the younger people who own tree service so you won’t see many reviews from the other people that spend very large amounts of money at scrappy‘s auto but he is by far the best at what he does. Dont really leave negative reviews unless i have no other choice. I took my truck in for what i thought was an injectors issue in May. Scrappys scanned my truck and stated i need 2 injectors. We agreed to get it fixed. After months of being out of service waiting for the repairs to be done, they finally reached out to me at the end of October (5 months later). Now they are saying i need $31,595.00 (yes 31k) worth of repairs. They said i need a new motor, after having my truck for over 5 months. I almost had a heart attack. I took my truck to a different shop and it turned out that my rod was a loose. The second mechanic put it back in and tighten the bolt and cleaned the egr. Truck is running 100% and the repairs were under $1300. I can't believe scrappys tried to charge me almost 32k dollars for a job that only cost me under $1300. I will never recommend this place.
