I just went there (Jan 2018) for the first time since it was a Marsh store. I was hoping it would be the same (products & layout) as the much earlier version of Marsh, say about a year before they closed. Marsh's poor executive management resulted in their many store closures. I personally saw the store declining & even told their Store Manager plus a visiting District Manager, that they were obviously getting worse and worse- they actually agreed & mentioned that upper corporate management was making a lot of changes, including changing suppliers, etc., to cut their costs & it was backfiring. It was also easy to see that employee morale was going down sharply. Anyway, now, with the new management and my return visit, I was very pleased with all aspects- no carts sitting around outside, clean, great selection, they get their Pork from the same supplier (Marsh was known for the very best Pork around), & they still have their great Bakery. Their prices seem better than before (too early to tell from one quick trip, but I will repost if I see otherwise). The store is even laid out exactly the same- this is great, you know where things are & can get in & out quickly vs all those corporate-greed stores that constantly move stock, in a trick, to make you go in circles all over the place for maximum market exposure to try to increase profits from impulse buying. Finally, hats off to the Needler family who have taken the financial risk to try to keep this store alive. They have kept many employees, and it is easy to see that they are working hard to make this succeed. So, now, the way to keep this alive, so you don't have to deal with marathon walks & grocery carts banging your car at the mega marts, is to support Needler's by shopping there. This is a small town, little store, comeback against the impersonal...
Read moreNeedler's Market on N. University Blvd is primarily a food grocery store with additional household and pet needs. Needlers is not a massive Supercenter that is similar to a Walmart. Needlers is a substantially necessary real grocery store serving a large area of community neighborhoods in Middletown located both centrally as well as downtown residents and businesses. I have personally been both impressed and relieved in how well Needlers carries quite a fresh and diverse cultural inventory of both the most common as well as many harder to find food products and inventories. Needler's has sturdy grocery bags and they know how to bag grocery categories which I really appreciate. They do have good sales on many everyday items. They also carry common healthcare items such as pain relief as well as vitamins at great low prices. Needler's is still very convenient alternative store for shopping because if it is the only market on this side of town. They are always well stocked and carry nearly everything in food, pet food and household supplies. Needler's saved time and gas for the money. Needler's is very much worth my time and money for limited shopping for food, pet and household essentials when I am not up for driving to the other side of town for a more extensive thorough shopping trip at any of the three large supermarkets located there, which price wise, are not actually that economical compared to needlers because needlers does have lower prices on some of my regular shopping items in addition to very...
