Two of my daughters got married within just a few months. My first bride selected her seamstress based on proximity to her home. The alterations were fine. I chose a seamstress for my MOB gown based on a web search. It was NOT Mila. My dress was a whole size larger than what I wear and needed to be fitted, hemmed and the small train bustled. The seamstress hemmed it but never looked at the fit. After it was pinned up, I mentioned this and then the shoulders and sides were addressed. When I left my first appointment, I had a sinking feeling about my dress. When I went for what I thought was my next fitting, all of the work had been done. I mentioned that the dress was still loose but the owner insisted it was perfect. A single small crocheted loop was added to bustle my dress(?)! I wore my beautiful dress to my daughter's wedding a bit too big with the train that fell all night. I was so disappointed and the alterations were not cheap. When my next daughter needed alterations to her wedding gown, on a recommendation from a salon neither of us had purchased from, we chose Mila. My daughter's dress fit almost perfectly, not even needing to be hemmed. I'm sure most seamstresses would have said it was fine, but Mila noticed it pulled a bit and my daughter's back was turning pink. The alteration required some complex work but once Mila did some preliminary deconstruction to ensure she could make the adjustment, we knew my daughter would be comfortable on her special day. When we went back, the fit was superb and the finish work was impeccable. The buttons Mila added for the bustle were almost invisible and my daughter was picture perfect. It was then that I asked if Mila could alter my gown. After the last fiasco, I wanted to be sure everything was done right. Suffice it to say, Mila worked her magic and I felt as beautiful as my daughter on her special day. Mila pays attention to the smallest details. She is not satisfied until every bit of needed work is perfect and she will not cut any corners to make it easier for herself. I am so impressed by her skills and desire to please. Her experience and training is top notch. She is the best master seamstress I have ever known of and will be my go-to person for any and all of my alteration needs moving...

I made 2 appointments here for alterations for my wedding gown. My wedding is in 2 weeks. The first time the dress ordered arrived 2 small after waiting 6 weeks for it to arrive. 4 1/2 weeks before my wedding this designer told me she could not do what I was asking her to do. My grandmother is a seamstress and I knew that what I was asking for could be done but it was clear that Milavi wasn't willing to do what I asked and led me to believe that the entire dress would have to be "reconstructed". I was so nervous when I left that I purchased another dress. The dress just got here and it fits great!...but not exactly what I want for my wedding day. Today I went to Milavi again strictly because she has such good reviews. Again today it was clear that she just did not want to help me. Again she offered something other than what I wanted. This time she told me what she could do to "save me money", like I would go cheap with my wedding gown alterations. Honestly I really wanted to give this place a good review, but she simply did not want my patronage. However when pulling out of Milavi's parking lot I found KARLENE LINDSAY DESIGNS 429 CAMPBELL AVE WEST HAVEN CT. Immediately upon calling the vibe was entirely different than Milavi. Not only was she pleasant and helpful she knew exactly what I wanted and had no problem accepting the challenge...and I was literally floored by how reasonably priced Karlene is! Be forewarned, Milavi's service is not all it has...

Mila is the definition of a God-send. If you are looking for alterations for any gown or suit, please pick Mila. I am the least bridal-type bride you will meet and never envisioned myself in a wedding gown, much less planning a wedding for 130 people. However, I found myself doing just that and after finding a dress for over $3,000.00, I was then faced with the terrifying prospect of finding the right person to do the alterations. I have heard so many horror stories from friends about the cost of alterations, issues or mistakes made, so o was overwhelmed, until I met Mila. Mila was so patient, kind, warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and charming; she spent an extensive amount of time explaining to my mom and I how to bustle my gown, the best kind of bustle for the style of the dress, bra choices, things I knew nothing about. She made every fitting enjoyable and stress-free. She works incredibly fast and with a meticulous eye for detail, she is a true professional and expert at her craft. Her pricing was beyond reasonable and unlike everything else in the wedding industry, fair and honest. Mila breathes humanity and craftsmanship into an industry that is very artificial and cold, my mom and I could not be more grateful for her time and effort. I also could not believe how quickly she managed to complete my dress and how perfectly it fits and looks, I can’t wait to post photos after our wedding! Thank you, Mila, from the bottom...
