This grocery store chain is just amazing. The people at every location are friendly and very helpful. This location is my usual haunt, but I often visit the Monroe and Shelton locations. Milford has Big Y gas, which is amazing! My biggest reason for not shopping here in the past was the bonus gas points. It is so easy to get the gas and use your points. They also take longer to expire (unlike some grocery stores). They have a higher limit for gas, as well as competitive prices. Some other stores up their price so you basically pay the equivalent with your money off, NOT Big Y. You actually get money off and get it for cheaper. Love it! The produce, bakery items, and seafood selections are always fresh and delicious. (The scones are definitely worth the calories). I also love how they tell you easily on labels where the local produce and products are. Love to help support local business through them. The app is very helpful for knowing the coupons and sale items, but they also always let you know by extra cards on the price ticket if an item has a coupon or sale for it. So grateful during these times, to not have to hunt for deals and special offers. Enjoy this chain and this store in particular. So worth the change over! P.S All of the stores I have been to have special parking for customers with children. They also usually have that parking near a carriage return,...
Read moreI grab my lunch from Big Ys in the area. I’ve gone to Cheshire, Naugatuck, North Branford, North Haven and Plainville and always gotten a good quality boars head sandwich. First time in Milford and I got Brian at the sandwich counter. I’m not sure if he is just knowledgeable or an outright liar but no matter what he should not be working this area. I went in to get a Chicken Bacon Panini they are featuring, so I order it and Brian tells me they discontinued that sandwich 2 months ago, I told him they Launched the sandwich 2 months ago prior to that it was Mrs B’s sweet BBQ panini. Then he says that they don’t have any chicken, board head hasn’t shipped it, I then asked don’t you get the meats from the deli counter like every other store, Brian tells me no they get the meats direct from Biars Head. It’s the same meats and every other store I’ve been in gets the Chicken from the deli counter. So I decided on an Italian trio which I know comes pre-packaged from Boars Head. He makes the sandwich and then asks me for toppings so I tell him lettuce, tomato, red onion and olive. He says they don’t have red onion, I asked why not Brian tells me they can only have what’s approved by Boars Head, now every store has yellow and red onion except Milford. This was the worst experience I have ever had in a Big Y. Brian should not be...
Read moreI have been shopping at the Milford Big Y since they first opened. I was a Shop Rite customer. The difference in the employees is night and day. At Shop Rite, the employees were rude, cold, and uncaring. They were out of sale items more often than not. Big Y has the best employees I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with. I am chronically ill. Amanda, who has been kind since day one, goes out of her way to grab a shopping cart for me as I bag my purchases. If I cannot find an item, there is always someone there to help me find it. Their plants for the garden are beautiful and healthy. Their meat is of excellent quality. They have a terrific selection of produce. The deli offers delicious, fresh cold cuts. The Bakery has so many goodies to choose from! We've shopped here every Saturday morning, when they open at 7:00. We've gotten through the toughest times during the beginning of the pandemic. We will continue to shop here. We get service with a smile, we are respected, and we leave there with a great start to...
