There is nowhere to write a review here so I’ll leave mine on here. We went here this evening for my mother’s birthday. What a horrible experience. To start the service was incredibly slow. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table and my mother got a glass or rosè. We waited over 15 minutes just for that. Mind you we got there at 5:30, it was nowhere near busy so there was really no reason. We ordered our appetizer and entrees at the same time. We got the fig pizza which came out in a reasonable amount of time. While the crust was a little soggy, the flavor was pretty good (The only highlight of the evening to be honest). Our entrees took almost 30 minutes to come out after we had finished the appetizer. I don’t even know where to begin with the food. My mother ordered the scallops with “risotto”. She received 3 smaller scale scallops and a pile of rice with squash in it. Risotto is meant to be creamy, cooked slowly in a broth. This was rice. Plain and simple. My father got the zuppa di pesce. Not only was it served with different pasta than advertised, the seafood was incredibly over cooked and rubbery. I ordered the short ribs with cavatelli and red sauce on the side. The piece of meat was okay, but I was given cold, uncooked, cavatelli thrown on the plate under it. It was inedible. I ordered another glass of wine once our food arrived which I never received. Now let’s talk about Ellen, the manager. Ellen came over and listened to my mothers complaint about the “risotto.” She stated “we’ve never had a complaint before, what would you like us to do?” I explained the how the pasta I received was cold and uncooked and she said absolutely nothing with regard to that. Her attitude can only be described as uncaring and callous towards any of our complaints. At the very end she informed us they were going to offer us dessert, to which we advised we would simply like to leave. They did take my mothers scallops off the bill which was appreciated, but a small consolation considering the state of the entire evening. This was by far hands down one of the worst experiences dining out we have had in a very long time. Needless to say we will not be coming back. On a positive note, we did venture to Dairy Queen after the ordeal and received far better service and food from that establishment. 10/10 would recommend...
Read moreVisiting family for the weekend from Pennsylvania. After my mother and sister's recommendation, we decided to come to Gusto's. I'm not one to leave a negative review but unfortunately from top to bottom this was a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. We got reservations for 630 but weren't actually seated until 7. We ordered drinks, an appetizer and our meal for 4. I dont think 6 clams with breadcrumbs are worth close to 20 bucks but whatever. We actually never got our dinner. By 845 we requested that we just get our dinner to go because my wife and I had an early morning and we were sitting for over an hour and a half just twiddling our thumbs. Apologetically, our server let us know finally that the kitchen staff had a few call outs and they were overwhelmed. Why they still let us make a reservation when we called at 4? No clue. It would be fine if that was it. But when we actually got to our hotel to finally have dinner, my wife who ordered the gnocchi, literally did not get gnocchi but simply shells and sauce and hunk of sausage. Definitely not worth 20+ entree. I ordered the chicken parmesan which comes with ravioli. I wish my server would have let us know that we only get 6 raviolis with the chicken parm. Otherwise I would have requested angel hair or some kind of pasta that was more substantial. Especially when you're paying close to 30 bucks for some chicken parmesan. NOTHING HAD FLAVOR which is the biggest sin. My wife said to me "either I'm use to your cooking or they didn't add a dash of salt or pepper on this" I let my sister do the talking to the waitress because I was not happy. Don't waste your time, money, stomach capital or your families good graces on Gusto because I'm definitely re-evaluating my mother and sisters opinions if they ever thought Gustos was worth it. Fortunately this was a one and done and they will never get our hard earned money again. Server was very apologetic though. She definitely knew by my face alone I wasn't a happy camper and it literally wasn't her fault so I don't wanna blame the front of the house. She still got 20% but if I could request a refund for the...
Read moreFirst, the service was very good. They are really working hard to upgrade this restaurant. I am looking forward to the fireplace outside and visiting again. That being said, here are the areas in need of improvement. The oil bottles on the tables, tacky, the packets of sugar and sweeteners, also tacky especially on white table cloths. Back to the oil; I would recommend a plain olive oil with seasoning added instead of the infused flavors. The bread was tasty, but very dry. I would recommend warmer and much softer Italian bread for oil dipping, and herb infused butter as an additional option. My first dish was the arugula salad, it was excellent, but can use some glazed walnuts. One of the specials included a mozzarella appetizer with olives and it was delicious, however; they ran out of them when I later wanted to order my own. I opt to order it because the chicken marsala, my choice of entree, was like biting into an onion. For some reason, they add A LOT of onion to the Marsala and it over powers what the dish should taste like. The sauce was light brown, instead of dark brown and rich. I took one bite and had to send it back. The waitress was very kind about it, which prompted me to order the mozzarella appetizer they ran out of. My wine of choice was the Riesling and it was very smooth and sweet as should be expected. My husband ordered the spicy margarita and enjoyed it very much. Next, as I didn’t order a replacement entree, we just split the key lime pie. It’s was okay and the whipped cream was tasty. The coffee fell flat. Perhaps presenting a siphon at the table for the process or even French press would definitely elevate the dining experience and provide a smoother beverage. Sugar cubes instead of packets. Also, the attire of the patrons was much too casual. I saw sweatshirts and baseball caps, quite appalling. Dress code should be implemented for main dining areas. Add candle lamps to the tables, and up the attire of wait staff uniforms. This restaurant has a lot of potential to really move in a more upscale direction, while maintaining a more casual atmosphere for...
