Extra Space Storage — Local services in Millstone Township

I am truly amazed by this place and by the kindness and professionalism of the staff. My friend was in desperate need of a moving truck after reserving one online and then being told at the last minute that they didnt have a truck for her. She had a moving deadline, and after getting this news on the day that she was supposed to get the truck, trying to get one at the last minute from anywhere within driving distance proved impossible. I was driving by Storage Authority and saw their moving truck out front with advertising that they would loan it for free (for moving purposes) with the rental of a storage unit (which I think is pretty fantastic). Since my friend had exhausted her options, I stopped in to ask if they would be willing to rent their moving truck to someone who was not getting a storage unit. To my surprise, they were willing to work with my friend. Not only did they rent her their truck, but they basically matched the deal she had with the original truck rental company, let her rent it for the weekend as she needed, and loaned her moving blankets and supplies - for free. And they told her to come right in and get it - right when she had been expecting to pick the truck up from the other company that left her without one. These are truly some of the nicest people I've met... they genuinely wanted to be helpful and I believe build good relationships with customers and future customers. I will not only go straight to Storage Authority for my own future storage needs, but I will be sure to recommend them to anyone who could use their services. I have rented a 10x20 unit in this specific location for almost 2 years. We originally moved in when it was locally owned and were promised our rate would be locked in for the first year. We moved facilities because our old one had been purchased and the rate had gone up significantly. However the local owner also sold out and eventually extra space storage purchased this facility as well. In the 6 months extra space storage has owned this location they have raised our rate 2 or 3 times. This last time they gave us 30 days notice and raised it $100!! Within 6 months our rate had doubled. We have since looked online and to newly rent is listed at $151 a month, they were going to charge us $450. What’s worse is they have done nothing to improve this location or to justify the rate increase. This location used to have a truck to rent and that’s gone, the AC sometimes didn’t feel like it was on inside, they put a trash bin but it had a lock on it, and they removed the door stops to hold the doors open for our inside unit. Which is incredible minor but it made it very difficult moving large items in and out. We ended up finding another 10x20 unit also climate controlled for a fraction of the cost and left before the new price increase went into effect. I truly cannot thank the staff of Storage Authority for not only running an amazing business and having amazing customer service but for just being truly incredible human beings. I had to be out of my rental this weekend and one hour before my box truck rental reservation, I was told that company could no longer honor my reservation because they over booked. My friend stopped in to Storage Authority after seeing they're moving truck out front to see if they had the rental available. It turned out that they don't rent the truck, they give it out FOR FREE with the rental of a storage unit, which is incredible. However, after my friend told them what this other company did to me and how upset I was, these amazing people decided to let me rent the truck for the weekend and essentially saved my entire move. Their genuine kindness means more to me than they will ever know and I will be sure to tell anyone and everyone in the future who needs a storage unit that Storage Authority is the only facility I will ever rent a storage unit from. What more could you ask for in the management of a company that stores all your personal belongings than people who truly care about helping other people.
