Six Flags Shopping Center — Local services in Milton

When I was a kid this was the happening place, with a movie theater, grocery store, drug store, Scotty's hardware, K-Mart, Radio Shack, etc. Time has taken its toll, however. Development on the bypass and on Caroline Street have made getting in and out of the shopping center difficult and the facility itself shows its age. The parking lot has a four-way stop, so have your horn and bird finger ready because there are only about 5 people in Milton who know how to navigate one of those correctly: none of them are going to be there when you are. On the other hand, you don't really have to hunt for a parking space and you don't have to get all dressed up nice like you do when going to Wal-Marks. Harbor Freight is great for those rarely-used specialty tools. I've never seen the allure of a Fred's, but if you're into that, it's right next to the Harbor Freight. I loved Nim's Garden when I was in college and didn't know any better.

The greatest pleasure found here is in the clientele, who make for great people watching. In fact, if you're feeling down about yourself, thinking you're an ugly, fat, loser with limited future potential, one quick trip to the discount grocery store will remind anyone who's slightly above average in those categories that they are, by comparison, relatively good looking, slim & trim, winners with much future potential. I shopped at Pic n sav they always have good prices especially on the cigar type cigarettes. I bought 6 cartons cuz I live in Jay and will not b coming back in a while. I always treat myself to the cut fresh fruits like pineapple and cantaloupe. Very good prices on that as well! The only other store I know of that provides the cut fruit is Wal-Mart which cost more. Even the Pic n sav in Brewton,Alabama does not offer the fruits. They only had 12 packs of coke which was over $4 apiece. I live on tight budget so i have to find deals or do without. I like this grocery store a lot. I prefer to go here over Publix, Walmart, and Winn Dixie. These are the pros- their produce is fresh and at a good price. Their meat is very fresh and also at a very good price. You can ask the butcher to cut any cut of meat for you. The employees are very sweet and helpful. The cons- they do not have the variety and availability of products the other stores have. Sometimes they will get something amazing in stock but the next time you go for the item they won't carry it. All in all, I like the store. If I need an item they don't have I can shop for that item elsewhere. I don't mind doing that for the money I save...
