Old Guard Games — Local services in Milwaukee

Just found out about this awesome little gem of a shop. It’s definitely stocked with more rpg than regular board games, but if that’s not your thing, the selection is still great with a wide range of different games.

The service was excellent. I’ve been in search of a good two player game for my upcoming anniversary. While my partner has no limit to the amount of complexity and strategy that can be involved with a board game, I’m fairly inexperienced.. but willing to try something new. The staff pointed me in the direction of a few of their favorite two player games at various price points and difficulty levels. I ended up splurging on a very cool cooperative board game, and I’m so excited to try it!

Old Guard Games has a welcoming environment in a beautifully restored building with down to earth staff. AND, while my partner and I don’t have any experience with rpg, this feels like a great place for us to come try some out and not be overwhelmed, haha.

I belong to a collective of GMs and we run games for kids here. I also just honestly run a game with my personal friends here because the vibes and great and they allow us to borrow (assuming we put them back and use them gently) the plethora of terrain they have. They're always so accommodating. There's one staff member in particular, a lady with platinum blonde short hair, who is particularly attentive and just seems to be able to anticipate our team and attendees needs.
