WOULD NOT RECOMMEND...TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. We bought all our NEW appliances from Karl's. Wanting to help support local businesses vs. the bigger chains. We had not had any problems with our appliances until we bought our stove. The knobs needed to be replaced. On the second visit, due to parts not coming in at the same time, I had asked if they could look at our ice machine due to it not produce as much ice. When the worker was done with the stove he was packing up and I asked if he was going to look at the ice machine. I explained that I asked that when I scheduled the appointment. He was unaware of this, and you could tell he was irritated, but he did it. He messed with the setting and gave some "tips" and that was it. We have a dual fridge/freezer, so four days later unbeknownst to us, we found out that he had changed the settings for our freezer to beverage. We had been gone and had not been in that part of our freezer, so when I went to make breakfast, EVERYTHING in there was soft. In this part of the freezer, we kept all of our meat, other frozen food, and breakfast food. It had been sitting for four days on the (beverage) setting. So, I don't know about you, but groceries are expensive, and I understand that it was an accident, but you trust that when someone comes to work on your appliances that they are competent in the work that they are doing. I did not feel that we should have to pay for this accident, especially after we had spent thousands of dollars in all NEW appliances at Karl's. So, I called and spoke to the manager who did not APOLOGIZE for the mistake, barely spent the time listening to my concerns. He was only trying to track down the worker to speak to. He said he would speak to the worker and give me a call back. This was on a Thursday. I still had not received a call back by Monday. So, I called again and of course the manager was out and wouldn't be back until Thursday. So, I called one of the main offices in Gregory. Spoke to a very nice lady, who was understanding and empathic to our situation. She stated how she would pass this along to the supervisor of the store in Yankton and would be reaching out. That was 3 weeks ago. No follow up from either store. Again, I understand that it was an accident, but I know in my job if I make a mistake it my responsibility to fix it. At this point it's not even about the loss of a freezer full of food, but the principle of the situation. Read moreKarl's was our go to for appliances. However, after our most recent expensive purchase, we will be taking business elsewhere. Purchased a refrigerator in May and it never cooled properly. We reported it within the first 30 days. Tech guy came out and couldn't find anything wrong. Still wasn't cooling properly, tech guy came out again and replaced a part. Still didn't cool. Came out several times to fix it with the end result being it still never cooled properly. The end of July, they took the fridge to repair it. We finally got it back today...with the same result, it still isn't cooling and they managed to put several blemishes on it. Karl's is refusing to give us a new one even though it was reported within the manufacturer 30 day return time. Four months without a fridge is ridiculous. From now on we will be taking our business to someone that still knows how to give good customer service.
