This is specifically about a Surgical ICU doctor and the social worker that was working with him. After discussing with the urologist handling my dad's case, my family made a decision to follow a specific course of treatment. These two individuals came into the SICU room where we were visiting with my dad to discuss ALL treatment options. After asking which procedure we wanted done, they badgered my family until my mom and sister changed their minds. These two people were pushing for "care and comfort" instead of doing something we had already decided upon that may have given my dad a chance to live. Needless to say, my dad is at home now, at least until he dies.
The urologist told us that the procedure was a risk and not guaranteed that it would be completely successful, and that further procedures would still have to be done. We had taken that into consideration and decided to take a chance anyway. You cannot win the lottery, regardless of the odds, if you never buy a ticket.
The fact that these two were actively working toward what they wanted us to do, instead what we as a family had decided, is the reason for this one star review.
For Mobile Infirmary to continue to employ people that will badger, coerce, and cajole the family members of patients to change their minds about the care of their loved ones is unconscionable.
Beware: If you choose Mobile Infirmary, and after careful consideration choose a course of action that might help your loved one, be aware that you may wind up having these two people try to convince you to do something that will kill your loved one. Please take this into consideration before you choose this hospital.
*Please note, the care in the ER and on the individual floors by the other staff was top notch. This review is strictly concerning and in regards to this specific Surgical ICU doctor...
Read moreI can absolutely understand why the current rating for Infirmary Health is so low. While my mother’s nurse was kind and professional, the overall experience has been extremely disappointing and concerning.
My mother came to the Emergency Room around 8:00 a.m., and as of 6:00 p.m., she has still not been offered a proper meal, even though staff confirmed multiple times that she was allowed to eat. I’ve called the nursing station several times for help or updates, but the calls go unanswered or take an unreasonably long time for any response.
The most alarming part of this experience is that my mother continues to have staring spells when she falls asleep, which appear to be possible seizures or TIAs, yet nothing seems to be done about it. Her tests are reportedly coming back normal, but that doesn’t explain or address what’s clearly happening right in front of us.
When I asked to speak with a physician, I was told that the doctor only sees patients once while they are in the ER. That policy feels unacceptable and unsafe, especially for patients who are actively showing neurological symptoms that could worsen quickly. Families shouldn’t have to beg for updates or wait hours for basic communication and care.
What’s most upsetting is that despite individual nurses doing their best, the overall system seems broken—communication, follow-through, and compassion are all lacking. My mother’s health and dignity deserve better, and so does every patient who comes here seeking care.
I rarely leave reviews, but this experience has made me lose all trust in this hospital. We will not be returning to Infirmary Health, and I truly hope leadership reads this and takes steps to make real changes. Patients and their families deserve attentive, responsive, and compassionate care—not neglect...
Read moreI recently saw Dr Amber Gordon. I have a condition that I have had since birth, 43 yrs, in addition to a few other conditions. I have lived in several states also, so to say I’ve seen many doctors is an understatement. In all this time I have never been treated the way Dr Gordon treated me. I was bombarded at my appointment by her and a manager and threatened in front of my husband. I was accused of Fraud for placing an order for a test, which I don’t even have the ability to do, and threatened with jail time. What I did in fact actually do, was to do a prior auth, and yes her name was on it because she ordered the test. It is actually encouraged by Infirmary Health to check with your insurance to make sure you are covered, that’s all I was doing. She walks out of the room not addressing anything, and I had several issues, after charging me to be there. THATS illegal…..THATS FRAUD. She must have skipped class the day they taught...
