This is a small specialty shop that is family owned and run. Babylon offers a wide variety of interesting high quality Middle Eastern and Eastern European foods. I really love this little market. The owner helps you personally and is attentive and gets to know his customers. This market It is a bit hidden, but pretty, clean and well organized. I have been periodically shopping here for years. Prices are exceedingly fair and often lower than the supermarket for these kinds of luxury grocery goods, most of there things are simply not even otherwise available outside a specialty market, and especially not at this quality. Theor bulgarian feta in brine for example is fresh and creamy and puts supermarket brands to shame. In my humble opinion, this is the best place in town to get good quality bulk green and black Kalamata olives, They offer a choice of several kinds of feta cheese, red marinated peppers,, juices, dry goods, pitas and flat bread, and other veggies. They also Middle Eastern and European jams and jellies, spices such as Sadaf Shwarma, Tzatar, and pure spices by weight . I especially love The assortment of Russian Polish and Turkish candies. Wonderful Mediterranean/Middle Eastern store. Family-run and always well stocked, the owner and his kids are always friendly and helpful. The food is always fresh and we always buy some of the Pirashki and fresh Halva to go with our Lavash bread. The selection of Persian spices and cooking needs are hard to beat in the valley. I do wish they had a fresh bread selection and maybe marinated meats for Kabobs, but again, I can only imagine how stretched the supply chain is in Modesto. I discovered this store while walking to liquor store to purchase a Gatorade. It sparked my curiosity, so I went inside and oh boy I was so happy.
