Sushi Garden — Restaurant in Modesto

Was excited to return here as I had a pleasant experience last time. They were attentive, considerate of my disability, and the food was tasty. Upon my return a week later, I received the exact opposite. The waitress was nice overall, but completely left me hanging after my food came and I asked for spicy mayo to start eating my food. 15 mins passed and I was completely ignored. It took another waitress to go and grab it. As I’m typing this out, the original waitress has failed to acknowledge me. Such a weird experience. But when you’re dining at lunch hour, I anticipate they will be more focused on the larger groups for bigger tips. Little do they know I tip well above the standard.

As someone who has worked in the service industry, I understand the challenges that come during work. The best thing they could have done is let me know they’re busy. However, the fact that I continue to be ignored means this staff requires better etiquette and hospitality training. It’s insane that 30 mins later in here without my check. At this point, I will not be making a return from my Brentwood home to here. It’s rather disappointing.

Note to staff: don’t ignore your lone diners. We might be food critics or people trying tog eat away from the hospital nearby for some comfort....

Wow, SO disappointed. To begin, it was almost 45 min before we got ONE of our appetizers, and an entire hour before we got our food. The "seared" tuna wasn't seared (just room temp all the way through) but it was soaked. In sauce. The presentation and flavor were the beginning of an experience my husband and I both knew wasn't going to end well. One of the rolls "house sauces" was yellow curry. SMOTHERING the roll. Not a flavor anyone wants to be surprised with, let alone overwhelming the food to the point the strength of the smell could contaminate your clothes. All the sushi pieces were kinda warm. Not reassuring when eating raw fish. The cuts were skinny and dry. Even the usual buttery salmon was just....not good. Yelp let me down. We will not...

I went with my family to Sushi Garden on Coffee Road in Modesto, CA and it was quite the experience. I asked for recommendations from the OWNER, and she quickly shun me and didn't want to talk to me or my family. That was rude as I took notice on how nicely she treated other patrons. We just wanted a nice family meal and be treated with respect and gratitude. We did not receive any! After ordering our meal and waiting at least 30 minutes for it to arrive, they realized that they gave us the wrong orders. They rudely took the plates and replaced it with the correct ones and waiting again for 30 minutes. Overall, I had very bad experience!
