I needed a new screen for my Samsung Galaxy J7. After calling around and reading reviews I settled on Cell Cycle in Oceanside. I called and spoke with Aaron about repairing my screen and after trying to offer me a newer phone(I declined) he said they could fix my screen. I would need to pay 1/2 to order the part, then the other half when my screen was repaired.
The next day I showed up to the address listed on Google (it was a residential home w/a Cell Cycle sign) during the open business hours specified on Google. I rang the doorbell. The door opened and there stood a guy wearing PJ's...ok, I gave him the benefit of doubt. After giving him 1/2 of the balance to have my screen repaired he texted me "Ordered j7 part, total repair $80, paid 40 today." Followed by "I will contact you as soon as the part comes in so you can bring in your phone we can fix it and you can pay the remainder". He told me he should get the part in by Friday. I asked once the screen got in how long would it take to repair my phone. He told me an hour.
Friday passed into Saturday, I'm thinking it's because of the upcoming holidays I've not yet heard from him. I waited until Sunday to call and check if my replacement screen showed up. Aaron said yes, he believed so, that it showed up on Saturday in a box...yet I didn't get a call on Saturday.
Here is the kicker, and everyone needs to know this part. While I was on the phone with Aaron, he asked where I lived and I told him (Oceanside). He said we could do 1 of 2 options. He could drive my part down to IGadget located in VISTA and I could drive my device there to get it repaired OR I could pick up my part and take both the part and my device to IGadget in VISTA because he doesn't do the repairs...seriously.
Would have been nice to be told that from the get go. I was never told that I would need to go to VISTA when I paid Aaron 1/2 the balance in person, nor did he text me that little tidbit of information, OR even when I first called him with regards to getting my screen repaired. No regard to my time nor the extra gas I would be using to get my phone repaired in VISTA. I searched for a place in Oceanside for a reason. Such an underhanded thing to do to say the least. Now I was determined to see how deep Cell Cycle's shenanigans went. I opted to pick up my replacement part, even asked when was best for him...He said 10am. I showed up and Aaron answered the door again in PJs...ugh. That's just unprofessional. However, from what I've experienced thus far with Cell Cycle I don't know why I expected more.
I went to IGadget in VISTA and got my device repaired by George. I asked George if he does all of Aaron's repairs and he chuckled a little and said YES he does ALL of Aaron's repairs. This is a cautionary tale to all and a lesson for me most definitely. Now I know the right questions to ask if I ever need repairs done...
Read moreI met Aaron with Cell Cycle yesterday and he took customer service to the next level. He gave me an AMAZING deal on an iPhone to replace my lost phone and I was even able to trade in an old phone that I had laying around for a ever better discount! He went out of his way to let me meet him after hours on St. Patty’s Day to get the “new” phone, since I was in need and took the extra time to ensure that it everything was up to par and that it in worked with my service provider. He even threw in a case and replaced my wife’s tempered glass on her iPhone while we were there! Aaron is very responsive, knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend him and Cell Cycle to anyone in the market for a new or used phone, for any repair needs or to sell their old phones, tablets or computers that are just laying around collecting dust.
Thank again Aaron! I’ll be sure to spread the word to everyone that I meet 😀
Also note that they offer a 3 month warranty on all of their items so why risk buying something from a stranger on Craigslist when you can get a great deal...
Read moreThis place masquerades as a proper cell phone shop but it’s really just some guy’s house, like a residence. He only serves one customer at a time so if someone else is in you just have to wait outside (in the hot or cold) as long as it takes. If he was just doing repairs then it would be okay but considering the business is also to buy and sell devices, it’s a really inefficient way of doing so. I can’t see their offerings while I’m stuck outside, and I’m faking away another customer’s ability to transact if I ever manage to get in and look around.
Very bold business strategy given that there are numerous cell phone repair shops in town. I recommend patronizing those who will let you in out of the cold while they finish up with...
