I really like this salon. This was my first visit on a Thursday evening. I believe I was their last walk-in client. I asked for a shampoo, deep conditioner and blowout.
The shampoo lady had a slight attitude, I'm not sure why, maybe she was tired (shrugs shoulders), but she was a little rough and my neck hurt the entire time at the shampoo basin.
The lady that rolled my hair was much nicer, but again, I have mentioned this at every Dominican Salon, PLEASE STOP USING SMALL HAIR COMBS!!! JEEZ! Most women that frequent Dominican Salons are naturals, with long, thick hair. Please take this into consideration and use bigger combs; you are yanking and pulling our precious crowns of glory! Ughhhhhh. So annoying. Another reason why I don't use Dominican Salons often.
I allowed the stylist to blow dry my hair only. No trim and no flat iron. I've learned that my hair is pretty much straight with a blow only and the flat iron only causes more heat damage.
The price for a shampoo, deep conditioner and blowout was only $35! Marvelous! I live in Maryland and this same, simple procedure is almost $70! Ridiculous. Most Dominican Salons in Maryland up charge based on how business is doing. If they've been slow, you will pay more. Smh.
All in all. I would definitely return...
Read moreI have been away from home for over 2 months and half due to my job. I googled many salons that cater to natural 4c hair types, I couldnât find any, or the ones that I found tell me to leave them a message and I should expect a call back in 30 daysđ. If I start about all the sh*t these so called natural hair salons put me through just to get my hair done, I will never write this review so....JJ salon was easy to find, and there were more positive reviews than negative, I drove the 30 minutes from my hotel to there. I was nervous, I have been natural for more than a decade now, I donât want people to fry my hairđ. It took 20 minutes for me to realize that I didnât have to be nervous. They were nice, professional, and knew exactly what to do with my hair! I left happy, a head full of healthy trimmed hair, and I paid only $35!! This was 2 weeks ago, today I am going back to get my hair done before I head home! I usually donât leave reviews but peopleâs reviews helped me find this gem, so I canât just be the usual me, get service and leave no reviews, especially if all your expectations have been...
Read moreI have been coming here for almost three years. I was a regular at first but then the stylists began to change and so did the quality of work. The last time I was here and entire front section of my hair was straightened at all. After 8 months I came back mostly because there aren't my options for natural hair salons and second because they have done really great in the past. Unfortunately, it has gone from bad to worse. I have shoulder length hair with about two inches of perm on the ends, the shampoo girls basically rolled my hair around creating a tangled mess that she then ripped apart and combed from root to tip....not tip to root as you should do natural hair. There was so much hair the the comb that you couldn't see the teeth. Then rolled big sections using big rollers to speed the drying process(I do have thick hair that does take a while to dry) so I won't have the body I normally get from using the rollers. I did want layers but I don't trust these new people with scissors and my hair. I just pray they don't burn me to bad with the blow dryer and start looking for...
