Update 2/8/2024: STILL an awesome group, still providing great service for anyone who walks in the door with a bike in need of repair. Tonight, while making my early season laps around Morristown, the left crank bolt kept coming lose, despite my tightening it with a small hex in my travel bag. I'd have to stop every 1/4mile and tighten it. It took Luis all of 30 seconds to tighten me up to the proper torque and have me back on the road before the sun set. I was able to ride another 4 miles without any issues thanks to Marty's Reliable Cycle. Thanks again, guys!! 🚲
Spring 2023: As a first time customer looking to free up the freewheel on my '88 Mongoose Sycamore (specialty tool you rarely need), the staff were awesome, provided a great deal of information regarding bicycles and maintenance, and they even removed my three wheel at no charge. I was super impressed with the selection of bicycles and accessories they had to offer, and given the quality parts they had on hand I was impressed with the prices. I feel it's difficult for a lot of local brick and mortar businesses to keep their business operating these days when online stores offer inexpensive parts and free shipping, but what good is that when you need maintenance, or professional with hands-on experience to help you seek new parts or a tune-up? I'm glad I stopped in Marty's today and I will be returning to give them business as soon as I get my bike back...
Read moreI had a pleasant experience purchasing the bike at the Hackettstown store. After about a month, I received an email that stated a free safety check that would consist of gear and brake adjustment and even a quick clean up. Since I knew I would be in the Morristown area, I gave them a call a day ahead. Asked if I needed to make an appointment and they said no and I could just walk in.
So, a day later I stopped in. Spoke to the gentleman at the front desk, who directed me to another person. I told him that I'm here for a check up just like the email said. He asked if anything was wrong with the bike and I said no, I don't think so. He said then that's okay. I showed and asked if having this much play on the brake lever was ok and I was met with a quick, yea that's fine.
I was confused. I did not go there expecting a full tune up. I just followed what the email said. No one looked at the bike. What's the point of a check up? I don't think my visit took more than 3-4 minutes. What a waste of time making my way there.
Whoever I spoke to on the phone could've just said if there was no issues with the bike, then I didn't...
Read moreI recently purchased a bike there(first purchase there) and it was fantastic! I will be going back again and again - highly recommend! All the employees were great! It looked like all the customers were smiling and were taken care of. Staff kept the store clean (snowy/slushy day - still clean) and inviting. All my questions were answered, information was given before I could think to ask. They were open with everything and wanted the customers to learn and have a positive experience. Building the positive experience from the beginning, keeps bringing customers back, makes lifelong customers. Long story short - I bought a Salsa Vaya. Beautiful bike and nicely assembled. I worked with Jesse and he made sure I fit the bike properly and the bike worked properly before I left the store. It was a great experience! I look forward to going...
