I had my wedding reception here on June 3rd, 2023. Prior to the actual wedding day, the venue seemed like a dream come true. The staff we worked with was friendly, accommodating, and prepared. We were SO EXCITED! Unfortunately, between the booking of the venue, taste testing/tour, and the big day they lost all of that. Below is a list of grievances.
When my husband checked into the hotel, they told him they needed a card on file, but my fathers credit card was already on file. The hotel then proceeded to charge my husband over $400 for his room and the honeymoon suite. This was eventually refunded, but took quite awhile to sort out.
My dad called and made arrangements for there to be an open bar. He was charged for it, but this did not happen.
Prior to the wedding day we were told that at the reception the wedding party would be held in a room during cocktail hour (so as not to spoil the “big entrance”) and that this room would have a spread of all the appetizers for us to eat during while we waited and not miss out on any of the food. Although the room we were in had enough chairs and tables for the wedding party (including an empty buffet table), we were told that the room was only supposed to be for my husband and I, despite the fact that it was explicitly told to us that all bridesmaids and groomsmen were to share the room with us.. So, our entire wedding party was kicked out of the room and my husband and I were given a slider each and a small helping of Mac and cheese on one tiny plate to share. We didn’t get to have all of the appetizers at our own wedding. Nor were we asked what we wanted to eat before the plate was handed to us. My wedding coordinator spoke to the manager and explained what was supposed to happen. In the end, the wedding party was brought BACK into the room and we were served a tray of sliders haphazardly thrown together with no condiments. The whole thing was very confusing.
The cake was cut into slices that were smaller than the samplers we tried at our testing despite the fact that there was more than enough cake for everyone. On top of that, although the whole cake wasn’t cut and served, the leftover cake was never given to us like it was supposed to be. I don’t know what happened to the rest of it, but I hope someone enjoyed my $400 cake haha!
The room was unbearably cold and the temperature never adjusted. When we asked if the room could be made warmer, we were dismissed and told it would feel warmer once everyone started dancing. It did not. My guests were freezing the entire time, as was I. And that’s without talking about my elderly relatives who couldn’t dance due to physical limitations.
We were never moved to the honeymoon suite. My husband and I just stayed in the room he used the previous night. I’m not sure where the miscommunication with that was, but we paid for it and I was a little disappointed.
Sparklers were utilized during my first dance. The sparklers set off the fire alarm and all of my guests (including my 100 year old great-great aunt) had to evacuate down the stairs and outside until the fire department could arrive. Dj swears he spoke to and cleared the sparklers with the venue well before the wedding. I don’t actually know first hand what happened with that but I was fine, the fire department was quick, and it made for a funny memory so this actually isn’t a point of contention for me. What isn’t funny was how the next day as my husband was in line waiting to checkout, we heard one of the front desk employees complaining about us, and the evacuation to an unrelated guest staying at the hotel. The employee was speaking sarcastically with eye rolls and disparaging comments. While the evacuation didn’t put a damper on things, being talked about by a stranger to a stranger is not how I wanted to end my wedding weekend. Very unprofessional.
I’m not looking for money, We were given a partial refund for the many errors, but money returned to my dad after the fact can’t change my wedding day. The whole thing just seemed...
Read moreI am highly disgusted and disappointed how the Hyatt Regency Morristown treats its guests. I stayed at this hotel because of a convention that was being held there. Very excited for the convention, I booked a room for 2 nights. While the price being higher then normal for a block hold, I shrugged it off because of what's going on in the world. Come to find out a few days before that it's paid parking in a parking garage. I didn't see anything about paid parking garage when booking my stay. They say they will validate your ticket at Check in but that really just means a few bucks off each day. Losing out on $60 just to park and not move the car is absolutely ridiculous. Check in was easy yes, thank goodness for pre check in. The modern rooms really aren't the greatest. No drawers to put clothes away, no counter space around the sink and the door to my room didn't always close right. Having to pay for breakfast is absurd with the prices of what I was charged for the room and for parking. The only positive thing was the lovely 2 gentlemen working the coffee bar. Very professional, funny, did their jobs with a smile on their faces and were respectful of everyone at the convention. The rest of hotel managers were the complete opposite. As a paying guest I did not feel like I was welcomed and the same for other paying convention goers. I heard horror stories of how others convention goers were talked too, treated, yelled at, told to change what they were wearing (even though the body parts that need to be covered in public settings were covered)by the hotel managers/staff. I myself felt like because of what I was wearing that I was being watched everytime I walked into the lobby area. Felt very disrespected as a paying hotel guest. My bill coming out to $464.50 just to feel disrespect and judged is disappointing. Us convention goers were treated pretty horribly, but yet a group of teenage boys (not part of the convention) were disrupting this convention. Yet they we're aloud to keep walking in and out through the lobby almost into the convention looking up to no good. Which hearing they were trying to break into people's cars and throwing water bottles at convention goers. Yet nothing was done about them. Other hotel guests not part of the convention were also very disruptive during the convention. As a paying guest of the hotel that was infuriating. Saturday night our convention gets shut down a little early because of complaints by other hotel guests and then were told the back door to the parking garage is getting locked. We are also paying hotel guests but I guess we don't matter as much. The lobby bathrooms were locked later on. Myself and 4 other femal guests got attitude when we politely asked if they could be unlocked. Apparently to the night time customer service man it was such a bother. We all thanked him very much and he just looked us up and down and said nothing. I don't believe that's very great hospitality. Check out on Sunday was a nightmare cause only 1 elevator was working. I understand that things can happen, but there were guest that were disabled in wheel chairs, the stairs were a nightmare, and 2 out of the 3 elevators were working all weekend anyway. Alot of us guests have been waiting for this convention and were hoping that this hotel would be great! Sadly the majority of us left feeling let down, disrespected and upset of how we were treated. I'm one of those guests. This hotel made this convention feel not wanted. This hotel may effect the future of this convention not in a good way. I will never stay at this...
Read moreI WOULD NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN! We wanted to get out of NYC for my birthday and decided to book a stay at a "nice" hotel in neighboring NJ for good service & a quiet comforting stay & DID NOT have that experience here. Nothing luxurious or romantic about it unfortunately. First off, we DID NOT receive a warm welcome at all. I pulled my car up to the front of the building into a parking spot & was finishing my makeup before going in to check in and the valet comes over and taps on my window to ask "can I help you?" As though I didn't belong. When I mentioned that I'm about to check in, he responded with "OH... that's perfectly fine then." ... Same energy at the front desk. Very unwelcoming as though they were not pleased to see me & they knew it was my birthday it was in the notes & on my ID. But other things mattered more appearantly. Then I received a King suite (which I paid good money for) on the 5th floor where there is no ice machine, overlooking a rooftop that was hideous. & it was in a corner next to a family with 3 small children. As a member & for $500 & on my birthday, that made me really sad. To add insult to injury the following morning at 7am there were men in full PPE power washing things on that hideous rooftop of a view that I had for nearly three hours 😳 at that point I felt that the location of my room was strategic & deliberate. This place ruined my birthday. I had a baby last year a week before my birthday & I didn't get to celebrate so I just wanted this year to be nice but unfortunately we chose a location that insisted on making our stay uncomfortable. Plus, when the lot gets full, they won't let you in. Full on nightmare this place. Surprisingly. You'll be shocked.
If you are of a melanated hue, PLEASE DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE. You Are NOT Welcomed ONLY Tolerated. Please Trust Me. THERE ARE BETTER PLACES. I am not a hyper sensitive person at all, so you can trust that coming from me, it had to be painfully obvious. The establishments in the neighborhood were amazing, especially the committed pig & NOM Restaurant & Tequila Bar their services were PHENOMENAL. Just find a better hotel nearby, NOT...
