Francine, the owner of this antique mall, is extremely rude, judgmental, unprofessional, and is costing her vendors good business and money. She does not value customersāperiod. If you are a vendor looking for a booth to rent, run away from this place as fast as you can.
If you are a buyer, also stay away. There are many more wonderful antique shops full of treasures, with owners who will treat you with respect. My wife and I are frequent antique buyers. Weāve been to most antique shops in the area, from Cayucos to SLO to Paso, and this is the place we have received the absolute worst treatment. That probably explains why, of all the antique shops we visited that day, this one was empty of customers; I guess Francine ran them all out, just like she did with us.
We spent a couple hours browsing, dressed in jeans and hoodies. We had already taken a stool to the counter and were also considering buying a hutch and dining table set we liked, for quite a bit of money. We saw a unique instrument for $20 and checked it out, thinking if we should add it to our list of items, when Francine came toward us screeching to put it back. We had to keep telling her we were checking it out and that we would put it back when we were done, but she kept coming over to harass us. We were not making a ruckus, just making sure each key played. The instrument was sturdy and solid, it did not have a sign that said āDo not touchā or anything like that. What drove the point home, was even after we stopped playing it, she kept yelling, even threatening to take it away herself. Thatās when we realized she was treating us so aggressively because she didnāt think we could afford anything in her store, and she had taken this opportunity to push us out. Well she just cost her vendors all the other big ticket items we were considering to buy, over her disgusting attitude.
How can she harass one of her only customers like that? Do not give your business to a person who treats others so terribly. We ended up buying just the stool because the cashier was nice to us and sheād been holding it for us. As we were leaving the shop, Francine asked us if we bought the instrument, we told her ānoā, and as we were walking away she mockingly yelled āI THOUGHT SO!ā Wow. What an idiot. She lost hundreds of dollars we would have spent in her store, plus any future purchases. Seriously, I feel so bad for the vendors who are in that shop. She is the worst owner we have met in the area, it is simply just not worth it, save your time, and most importantly...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe keep trying to give this antique mall another chance. In the 4 times that weāve visited we have witnessed the owner being rude and abrupt to her dealers and her customers. The closing time is ambiguous and appears to get earlier with each visit. We are made to feel unwelcome and rushed. I am a partner in an antique mall with a similar business model. We and our sweet dealers would never dream of being so rude to our precious customers. On the many evenings when we still have people in the shop at or past closing we will gently tell them that we are closing but they are welcome to finish a quick cruise through the rest of the shop. Please consider a more polite method of letting your customers know that they have limited time left to spend money in your...
