My husband and I moved to Hermitage in 2012. We absolutely loved it. However, coming from the city of Norfolk, VA, I missed the connectivity of wining and dining with friends throughout the hustle and the bustle of the city. I found myself driving into Nashville for anything close to that. Long story short, my husband passed away in 2018. I had to sell our home and move into an apartment in the city of Nashville. Now, I find myself missing the quaint community of Hermitage. Vintage Wine and Spirits gained a customer in me when they opened in 2014 and started having wine and spirit tastings on Friday nights. I met and made new friends without going too far away from home. I bought my 2nd bottle of Blanton Bourbon there. I bought the first one for a friend back in VA. I bought the second one for myself and held onto it for 8 years(purchased at Vintage Wine and Spirits). I had friends over and we ran out of bourbon. A little tipsy, I thought, no worries, I have a bottle of bourbon I’ve kept for sentimental reasons. We opened it and drank every drop. The remorse I felt afterwards was just crazy. I began my search trying to find another bottle. After trying 4/5 stores in the Nashville/Greenhills area, I couldn’t find it. I was sick. I thought, “ let me go back out to Hermitage where I found my second bottle. I looked on the shelves and it wasn’t there. I asked the clerk(Kelsey)if the store still carried it. She said it’s a rare occurrence that they would have it. I felt sicker. Then she said, “ let me check in the back. The other clerk said, I doubt very seriously if she’ll find it. 3/4 minutes passed and here she(Kelsey) comes with a bottle of Blanton Bourbon!! I wanted to kiss her. I probably did and just don’t remember. I was elated!!! I told her I was going to share my experience with everyone who cared to know. So…..here I am…..Vintage Wine and Spirits in Hermitage, (Kelsey), YOU’RE THE BEST!!!! Thank...
Read moreI only give this place 2 stars for now and here is why. Today was my first time buying alcohol from any sort of liquor store since I turned 21 less than a week ago. What I thought was going to be a good experience was not. It is not what happened but HOW it was handled. After I picked out what I wanted, I made my way to pay. There was a line behind me as it is a the night before a holiday. The cashier notified me that my ID has expired. I had just finished working multiple 13-14 hour days in a row at the hospital downtown and I have never had to renew an ID, so I honestly forgot that it had expired. I was honestly disappointed but I knew the law and immediately began to state that I in fact was aware of it and I will get it renewed tonight. Aware of it as in I knew the date was coming up but with my work schedule I forgot. I was not even through with my sentence when the cashier interrupted me to say yet again "its expired!" with a tone and face that made me feel very degraded and accused on my one holiday off. I was not asking nor begging for him to sell me the alcohol. I was simply stating that I was going to renew my ID as soon as I got home and was going to thank him for reminding me. But I felt he was very accusatory without even giving me a chance to just reply to him as a person. I wasnt just going to walk off without a word because I didnt want him to feel bad for implementing a law. I was a cashier once too. But not even knowing if I knew the law (which I do), I feel he could have kindly educated me instead of embarrassing me like he did. Not everyone is there to "bargain" and I felt I could have been respected a bit better. I felt very attacked and I hope this doesnt happen to future customers who are innocently trying to get on...
Read moreWe have been loyal customers to Vintage since they opened. We are there every week. Over the past few weeks, we have asked on 4 different occasions if we could purchase the Blanton barrel that is at the first along with all the others that are for sale. All 4 times we were told that it was not for sale, or that it’s a rare one so it will not be sold. On Thursday night, I walked in and asked again if it was for sale, it’s sitting right next to all of the others… the girl told me no- it’s rare so it will not be sold. On Friday, my husbands friend walked in and they sold it to him no problem! I called and the lady basically just said it must have been a miscommunication. Very frustrating! I don’t understand why we were lied to over and over again. It’s very upsetting. We will be taking our...
