Red ninja Sushi & korean cuisine — Restaurant in Mount Juliet

Found a nice little restaurant tucked away. The employees were super nice. This location is a decent size. It looks tiny but mighty. Definitely the mom and pop vibe that makes you feel the staff actually wants to be there. Lots of great options on the menu. From sushi to udon. The menu definitely complements each item so you really can’t go wrong. We wanted something small and light. We ordered creamy udon with chicken. A simple but delicious dish. Almost like a sweet creamy cheesy Korean Alfredo sauce with a hint of corn. Juicy onion slices. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Not overcooked had a moist texture and flavor. It’s a very simple dish not much to it just simple traditional flavors. A dish that is very easy to mess up by this was the best one I have had in a while. Very reasonably priced. I don’t understand how these guys aren’t full every single night. The sushi is amaaaaazing. The smoked/seared salmon or tuna that comes with the nigiri, omg, I literally felt my pupils dilate. It was the best combination of smoky, fatty, sweet, and umami that I’ve put into my mouth. The last time I tasted something so novel and mind-blowing was probably when I was a baby and I was tasting some flavor for the first time and forming that particular neural pathway. Tonight, I just formed another neural pathway, for the seared salmon, and it felt So. Good.

My wife and I ate at red ninja last night for what is probably the 3rd time. It's been awhile since we were able to make it in there but the staff remembered us and even asked if we were ordering the chirashi again or trying something different. We got a nigiri combo, the red ninja roll and the tuna/salmon lover roll.

This place consistently exceeds expectations. The fish was fantastically fresh and very tender and flavorful. The sushi chef (and I think owner) seared a couple of the pieces of the nigiri and drizzled with a sweet umami sauce then topped with fresh jalapeño and roe. Man, what an amazing flavor profile.
