Shop Fresh Marketplace — Local services in Mount Olive

Lots of 5 star reviews so far - really? Granted - it's nice to finally have a local supermarket in that space, but shouldn't more be expected from a new 2023 supermarket?

Now, I have high standards, but from what I saw, prices are higher than Shop Rite and similar to, if not a little higher than Weis. The quality does not seem to be any better than either of those 2 stores.

I mean, let's be clear, this is not Whole Foods, Trader Joe's or Wegmans quality store, but they appear to be charging prices that are somewhat similar (perhaps a bit less).

Further, aside from it being new, there's certainly no wow factor with this store - shelving seems of pretty poor quality and aisles seem a bit cramped.

So, given the above ... how are they going to stay in business? And why would I shop there?

It would be interesting to see some real feedback re this. And I would love for them to succeed - just given what I've seen to date, not sure what they really bring to the table that would make me a regular shopper.

Update - owner says they will take my comments into consideration- did they? other than reducing milk to 3.99, and sending out some coupons, everything else generally is overpriced and the quality of the bakery and produce is poor - and another part of the problem is that unlike other regional supermarkets, they don’t carry a store brand of any/most items, so they’re not offering cheaper alternatives to name brands-

Ms. Galloway’s review has it right (and I am being generous with 3 stars) - to give this place a 5 star review means you’re either affiliated with the store or your taste and opinion is impaired in some way lol 😂

UPDATE- I love the review explaining away the empty shelves by stating that they are renovating - ha ha ha

I was very much hoping to like this store as an alternative from ShopRite. I was shocked at the prices of exact same items I purchase in ShopRite being way higher. Quite a few dollars higher. Same items so NO BETTER QUALITY. This may be why the store was practically empty. I saw a couple of people getting 2 or 3 items only. I would do better at Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, or Weis. Ridiculous for a supermarket that is not a specialty market. I believe I saw Haagen Daz for $7.99 and that’s just one item I’m mentioning as I’m very familiar with Haagen Daz and other gourmet ice creams because those are the ones I eat. I doubt this store will remain in business with the prices I’m seeing. I put my basket down and headed...

This Brand new supermarket is great as we live less than 2 minutes from the plaza. Just walked in today for first time and you can tell they just opened up less than a few days ago as you can see they are going through the expected grand opening challenges. It really doesn't matter because the staff is very attentive and very professional. We are excited to shop here as it's so convenient for us. Prices are fair and they even have a hardware section that actually has very esencial products, not to mention a super Clean space and even a liquor store makes it ultra simple and super convenient.
