As a family that hosts many parties throughout the years, we try to stick to what we know. I wanted to switch up our food vender due to the fact our usual company was astronomical for basic food. Our usual vender service was great and was consistent, but nothing spectacular. We were going all out for this event because it was my 30th birthday AND engagement party, so i was not going to pay a lot of money for middle of the road.
My fiancĂŠ came across the BBQ Pit through work, and we figured we go to there new spot and try it out and get the pricing. It was delicious when we went to their location in Hackettstown, and the customer service was awesome. Frank met with us and he was great to work with and Rob sent us our menu and pricing. We were so happy to find that they were so reasonably priced and communication leading up to the event was great.
Now for the day of the event. they showed up and set up early, everything about them was 100% professional even down to their company vehicle. As we were coming to the start of the party, our bartender had not shown. I, as the bride and birthday girl, was panicking as our guest started to arrive and I had no one to serve drinks to our 150 guests. Rob came to the rescue and had his wonderful wife come with one other wonderful woman to bartend the party. And they came with like 15 minutes. They stayed all night, always made sure i had a drink in my hand, brought in our liquor at the end of the night, and cleaned up.
Food was ready exactly when I wanted it to be and it was THE BEST BBQ I have ever had. Our guests had 2-3 plates each, everyone was saying all night "that food was absolutely amazing!" Our guests are STILL talking about the food! We got the Texas supreme and added brisket.. which I defiantly recommend. I do not like smokey flavor at all and when i say this meat was cooked to perfection, it 100% was!!! and Their hot sauces and all the sides were to die for.
The BBQ Pit is our new go to. 1000000000000000/10 !!!!!!!!! I was BEYOND impressed and so grateful for all of them and what they did! if you are looking for the best, this...
Read moreThe place is clean inside and the decor is fitting.
The pricing is confusing because they have the cash prices listed- just list the pricing and offer the âcash discountâ- itâs listed on the bottom corner of the menu so itâs easy to miss when you are trying to look at all the menu options
The food is overall mediocre. The pulled pork and pulled chicken taste very similar to each other- it was nice that it wasnât dry and they both had good flavor but it was hard to tell them apart on the platter. The brisket also had good flavor but was too fatty and should have been cut smaller when asking for it âshreddedâ. The chili had an ok flavor but the texture was weird- it was beanless which I can appreciate but long shreds of meat in something more soup like was just weird. They forgot our cole slaw so I cannot comment on that taste. The baked beans and their homemade chips were very good. The cornbread was eh, it cannot be homemade, it lacked that cornbread flavor.
The Mac and cheese was TERRIBLE! It had no flavor other than maybe a plasticy taste? Iâm not sure if they purchase it in those frozen bags and serve it out of them or how they keep it stored but I am shocked to read that people were loving it because we clearly did not receive the same product. We ended up tossing it, no one in our family (there were 10 of us) could eat more than a bite or two of it.
The place is nice and we want to support local businesses, but itâs lacking right now. We will revisit this in a few months or next year if they make...
Read moreI ordered through DoorDash and genuinely had one of the worst meals of my life. We ordered The Sampler, The Grilled Chicken Platter, a kids hotdog meal and a variation of sides like baked beans, beanless chili, mac and cheese, potato salad, roasted southwestern corn (i forget the exact name) and tater tots. To start off positive, the flavor of the pulled chicken and pulled pork in the sampler tasted very good, the brisket on the other hand was sliced and extremely dry and tough. The Grilled chicken was rubbery and tough at the same time, literally my husband couldnât eat it. The chili was okay but under seasoned but it still had some flavor just lacking salt and pepper so I could fix that easily. The potato salad had no flavor at all, it was genuinely the saddest excuse for potato salad, theyâre better off buying some from Shoprite! The mac and cheese was literally sour, the cheese sauce was smothering dry noodles and we couldnât feed it to our child. It was so disappointing because my family wanted to give this place a shot since itâs a new establishment in town but I donât think we will be ordering again. To top it off, my husband and I were up all night with bubble guts and got extremely sickâthrowing up and having...
