I've used Nick and Tristan for a few different projects now and I wouldn't have it any other way! Their products are only a small part of their business, as they are focused on building the right rig for you! After spending ample time on the phone with them, we finally hashed out my first custom build through them! After the whole experience, its safe to say they know how to build you a perfect fit custom rig wherever you intend to use it, whether it be competition shooting, hunting, etc. Although they have their favorites like American Rifle Company, Curtis, Proof Research, McGowan and Carbon Six barrels, Bix'n Andy and Huber triggers, Leupold Optics, etc., they're more than willing to build according to your desires and preferences which is refreshing to say the least! Like many others I heard about SJA’s reputation by word of mouth and from reading other customer reviews online. I decided to purchase a 24” prefit Proof Carbon Fiber Sendero barrel from them for my Curtis Custom Vector action chambered for a 6.5CR. Although I expected some delays due to the pandemic the barrel took longer than I anticipated to be delivered to SJA from Proof (no fault to SJA), but the wait was more than worth it.

I contacted SJA via email once every 2-3 months for a quick status update and they always got back to me within 24 business hours. And if they weren’t slammed with work they would also reach out to me by phone to give me a verbal update (often times reaching my voicemail, which was still awesome to know they cared enough to go to those lengths) along with an email reply.

Their customer service goes above and beyond, something that not many businesses nowadays take the time to truly provide – I really appreciated that which is what helped ease my anxiety on waiting. Nick made the process even easier to navigate by answering any questions I had along with a simple explanation for the answer. Understanding why you want to do something is always better than being told what to do, so that gave me more confidence in knowing what I was getting.

I recently had a custom hunting rifle built by Straight Jacket Armory, and I am beyond pleased with the result. The rifle is built on a Falkor LW7 action, paired with a Proof Research carbon barrel, and an XLR Element chassis, chambered in 6.5 PRC. The craftsmanship is top notch.

This is my first bolt gun in over 30 years since leaving the military, so there was a lot I didn’t know going into this process. So much has changed. The team at Straight Jacket Armory provided advice and guided me through every step. They helped me make informed decisions and never made me feel out of my depth.

The rifle was completed much faster than expected, which was a phenomenal surprise. The performance of the rifle far exceeds my expectations. By rounds 13 to 24, I was already shooting three-round groups with Hornady 147 gr. ELD-M, Hornady 143 gr. ELD-X, and Berger 140 gr. Elite Hunter measuring between 0.581 and 0.774 inches. These were the first 20 rounds I have fired out of a bolt gun in more than 30 years! Let’s be honest-truly honest-this rifle is way more accurate than I am. I am excited to see what I can accomplish with more time behind the trigger.
