UPDATE from a year ago: Still has great prices and the food looked beautiful! However and unfortunately, our experience this time was less than desirable. We ordered a simple cheese bread and wings (.50/wing - great Friday special). First, it took us 45 minutes to receive our order. The wings are precooked (I'll tell you how we know this in a minute), and the breed was pizza style, so the order shouldn't have taken more than about 10 or 15 minutes to cook. I wanted to remove a star for that, but it was a busy Friday night and a one-time occurrence so far, so decided to cut them some slack. Then, when it finally arrived, the bread was fantastic (as usual), but one bite into our wings and it was obvious something was wrong - they were stone cold in the middle! Not luke-cold like they stayed out after being cooked waiting for the bread... Like refrigerator cold and not warmed all the way through. š Thank goodness they weren't raw in the middle, or that would have been worse. This is how we know they're precooked -thankful for that. Reluctantly, one star removed. Next, when we alerted the teenage staff about it (no adult or manager in site), they apologized, and that they'd cook more for us. We didn't want to wait again, so we ordered them to go. 5 minutes later, they gave them to us, piping hot...hmmm. took 5 while minutes, not 45. Ok, we were happy we are least didn't have to wait the second time. So we got ready to pay at the register, and then then the cashier actually charged us the regular price instead of the weekly special for the wings! If I hadn't have noticed the cash register ring it up and corrected her, we would have been charged full price for a meal that was cold and old. I'm not inclined to blame the young staff about this, because was annoyed and concerned that there was no adult staff present to help. This incident seemed to be a training error on how to 1) properly cook the food, and 2) how to properly handle the problems that arose with the customers. Another star gone for that, which I don't apologize for at all. š We'll probably try this place again, because we like to support local establishments, but this was a big strike against them for us.
Past post (a year ago): Weekly special of their delicious 3-topping calzone and a side salad for under $7?! Wow! It really was enough food for two meals, but I had to eat the whole thing... For some reason I just couldn't stop! Wish I had a photo to share, but I was relieving my hunger at the time and didn't think about it. Really great pizza here too, we've come here quite often. Honestly, I think it's the best place to eat in Mount Pleasant. Place is clean, even the bathrooms, and staff is really friendly too,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really enjoyed the Pizza. Between Roy's and Main Street, it's probably the best pizza I've had in Sanpete County. I had the Chicken and Ranch pizza. The dough was really fantastic. The sauce was pretty light, but I don't mind a small amount of sauce, because I can't stand greasy pizza.
The reason why I dropped it to 4 stars was two things. First, it was a full house when my husband and I got there, and I saw two instances of someone coming up to the front counter and saying it had been over a half hour since they had been helped. One if them hadn't even gotten their salads yet after 40 minutes. The second reason was there was a vape machine sitting on the countertop behind the front counter, and I find it concerning that there isn't a crew room or place to hide these items. At least their weren't drinks from crew members lying around. The vape isn't a big deal, but the prioritizing of customers is.
I've never worked in a restaurant before, but I am currently working in fast food service. Based on how the employees were acting/trained, this place is straddling between a restaurant and a fast food place. Because the pizzas are cook to order, you can't get the food quickly (thankfully, because it's worth the wait), and because I don't believe your employees need to be tipped, it's easy for your sit-in people to get missed. One solution I propose is that you guys should have dedicated "tipless waiters," someone who walks around and refills drinks and make sure someone doesn't fall through the cracks during the dinner rush. Because it has the "look" of a restaurant, having someone on the floor to refill drinks would be very helpful.
My second piece of advice is implimenting some sort of more organized way of keeping track of customers. The employees were really polite when we interacted with them, but I think there just weren't enough of them. Overall, pizza was fantastic, but try to go there in between lunch and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband got the early bird special, a 12" 2 topping pizza, but, as he worked at Peter Piper for a few years, and loves pizza, he quickly recognized that the pizza was 10"; aside from the size they were generous with the toppings and it was good overall. I had a build your own pasta and it was great! I didn't expect a house made creamy pesto, so that was a pleasant surprise and the whole thing was really good. The breadsticks, complementary from the neighboring bakery, were bland. They added garlic butter to the top, but it didn't taste like it, it only smelled like that when it was brought out. The garlic toast that came with my pasta wasn't bad, it was frozen Texas toast though. Those are the reasons for 4 stars...
