I am currently a BS student. I have had 6 different classes now with non-functioning resources; some of these include coding textbooks that constantly glitch (which has impaired my ability to code and made the class difficult), teachers Canvas links that lead to dead websites, and teachers who've reused videos from other classes with content obviously referring to sections that aren't being covered by the class. 90% of the classes you will have are going to be hybrid, meaning that you're teaching yourself, and a vast majority of these have about given me a stroke, given how unbearably stressful it is trying to find an answer that your teacher hasn't actually taught you to find. I have also been harassed and threatened with physical violence crossing the street, and seen other students harassed on Campus, with the offices saying nothing can be done about the behavior. I am 3 years into this BS program, and I'm going to be transferring.
I have also had the Bio/Art class with Mary and Cliff that someone mentioned in a prior review; to explain how treachously awful this class was, we had 7 assignments due within 3 days of starting the class, one of which was a painful review of a 2 hour Darwin film, a 4 hour drawing of a plant, and another book chapter covering almost-the-same-but-not-quite content as the Darwin film. That class made me depressed and overwhelmed in a way I still haven't recovered from.
Overall, just a bad school in a bad area. Don't waste your FAFSA...
Read moreI have never been so dissapointed in a college. My mom went here for nursing and it is a gorgeous campus, but the staffing is a nightmare. I call and call and call and leave messages because no one ever seems to be able to answer the phone, and no one returns my calls. Ever. They give out my personal information to the armed services when they told me that they dont, and they shared my personal information including my social security number to other universities for "research purposes", and now that information was stolen. Again, I left messages about that and still no answer or returned calls. Save yourself the frustration and go to Everett Community College. I will not be returning to Skagit for another quarter, and I expect them to shred and/or delete any personal information in my file. Worst...
Read moreI have almost completed my AAS degree there. I don't have an experience with other colleges, but I am fully satisfied everything here: my instructors, college administration (any question or problem solves very easy and fast), that knowladge and skills which I aquire here... The only thing which I would change is decreased students number in ELA classes. But this issue depends not on college desire or it absent, but on city or state financing.
If I would an opportunity to move two years in the past to enroll any college, I would choose SVC...
