McGill Teak & Patio Furniture — Local services in Mountain View

I recently bought a large "Titan" sized teak table, chairs and bench from McGill Teak Furniture. It was a terrific experience. Our saleswoman was well informed and patient, and helped us choose a right sized table that would meet our needs (no sharp corners since we have kids). She also let us try out all their chairs until we found the ones that we most liked, and arranged for delivery over the holiday season as well.

The quality of the furniture is a cut above what you can find elsewhere (particularly at a bib box or chain store). The wood is beautiful, thick, well cut, and assembled properly with strongly made and well thought out joins. I'm a stickler for these issues being descended from two generations of furniture makers. The design is also clean and visually appealing. I felt pricing was quite good given the high quality of the workmanship.

Finally, I am very pleased with their support after purchase. Some time after purchase, we changed our minds and decided we wanted the furniture sealed (you can order it with or without the furniture). They came out to our house, cleaned the furniture, and then sealed it for us. I can only imagine the difficulty dealing with such a change of heart had we not gone with a local supplier who takes their business and customer service very seriously.

Overall, this business is top notch and a welcome addition to downtown Los Gatos.

Update - August, 2014:

We were very happy with our dining set, and so we purchased a bench for the front of our house. I remain very enthusiastic about the quality of wood and workmanship. The joins on the wood are very well executed. It is also worth mentioning that the design is both "sturdy" but also graceful - their design work is coherent and pleasing to the eye. McGill Teak

We decided it was time to move on from Home Depot level patio furniture and I used Yelp to pull up five vendors who sold quality furniture with high ratings that we would look at. Of the five we looked at, three were eliminated due to eye-popping prices or selection.

We went to look at the McGill Teak showroom where we met Minnie.

They had a good selection of high quality stuff and there were a number that would have suited us but we narrowed it down to two.

Minnie was great to deal with. She was honest and not in the least pushy, which was very refreshing. I can get very picky on details but she answered all my questions.

We really liked the Rise Rope set of a sofa, two chairs and a table. It's really nice, very comfortable and was a good price so that's what we went with. We also bought a couple of nice teak side tables to complete what we need for the patio.

Minnie just made everything so easy. The delivery was on time, five days later. A really nice experience.
