12/11/23: Giant Eagle has no way to submit feedback on its website. I came home today without an item after an extremely long wait in checkout with only one person in front of me (cashier made a mistake with that customer which involved lengthy discussion). The item that I am missing was not charged to me but the cashier missed it so I have to make a 2nd trip; Giant Eagle has to put the item away and they didn't sell it; and poor customer service.
6/3/2023: Rotting produce in the grocery section - a lot of rotting produce. Rotting ground beef in the meat section. Last week, I came home with Rania raviolo; opened the bag and found large black spots; mold but within expiration date so it must be the refrigeration. What is going on at this Giant Eagle location? I guess I will have to drive out of my way to Shop N Save or the super Walmart (never the one in Heidelberg).
10-12-2022: Purchase a vegan salad dressing which cost about $8.00. Went to use it today and noticed that it expired in 2021. I don't have the receipt at this point. Feeling ripped off.
3-11-22 - Shopped at 8:30PM or so. The store was out of milk and sugar - the ground sirloin was brown. After the store playing the 'store closing in 15 mins' message on the speaker, the supervisors were telling cashiers to turn off the lanes even though customers were waiting. The cashiers are minors so one said he need to clock out and come back and finish bagging my order. The supervisor called him an "@ss" for coming back to bag. Actually, I call that good customer service. The supervisor had the wrong attitude. Yes, he is a minor so she should have taken over completing the bagging. Giant Eagle - your prices are high now. I was in a full service lane and yet expected to bag my own order.
Giant Eagle - please decide if the corporate office will commit to customer service by properly staffing this store. I left this store at 7:30PM, July 8. It was inadequately staffed at the registers: 4 self serve; 1 regular lane and 1 express lane open. There were over 23 customers in one lane alone! Apparently, Giant Eagle expects to be paid a premium price but force customers to wait in long lines with perishable items -- it shows tremendous disrespect to your customer. I spend over $100.00 and came home with soupy ice cream and thawed fish (which was frozen when I put it in my cart). This is not acceptable for a premium grocer. On previous trips, I have noticed that the produce is not only NOT fresh but in some cases rotting but displayed for customers to purchase. Today, I noticed bread (4 buns) for sale at $5.99 -- same brand at your competitor for $3.99. Your staff recommended Trader Joe's, Fresh Market and Aldi's to me today. I already shop at Fresh Market -- maybe it is time to stop wasting money and time at Giant Eagle. There is nothing...
Read moreAfter 8 years of shopping here, you've lost my business for good. In the past few months I noticed things have drastically changed at this Giant Eagle. The produce is not fresh and many, MANY items throughout the store are expired or days away from expiring. Something happened and I wish I could know. Is there new management? Is it closing? Most employees are rude and obnoxious, besides cashier Mary and the young man at the customer service desk (I'm sorry I forget his name). When you go to check out, there's only 2 cashiers - 1 obese guy with dirty hands and 1 girl who smells like she hasn't showered in weeks. What happened to cleanliness requirements for people who handle food? I'm sorry to be so mean, but come on. If you have visably filthy hands or you smell bad, i don't want you touching my food. The other day when I was in the produce section, the employee who works in that section kept following me around. The store was almost empty yet he kept coming around where I was trying to shop. I was standing talking to a family member when he decided it was the time he needed to move around the strawberries that we were standing in front of. He literally pushed himself in between me and my family member to rearrange strawberries. He then followed me over to the tomatoes and got in my way. IN A NEAR EMPTY STORE YOU HAVE TO MESS WITH INVENTORY EXACTLY WHERE I GO? I couldn't get much in produce anyway because everything was rotten or there wasn't anything left anyway. Throughout the store, inventory is down and most things are out of stock. When there are customers there, they are even a pain in the rear because they constantly push in front of you to get something. I wish I could know what happened to this store since the beginning of this year. But I'll never ever go...
Read moreI hate writing this review but this has to be said. What happened to Giant Eagle, you seem to be going downhill. The produce is so bad that sometimes it is impossible to find a decent green pepper. There was a display of carrots with black spots all over them in every bag and when I showed the produce manager he said it was just something that happens to carrots but they're alright. WHAT! You must be kidding, I would never buy carrots with black spots on them. Green peppers wrinkled and old looking. Potatoes in bags that you can clearly see are no good with their rotted markings. Now let's get to the milk that I bought before Easter that three days later smelled bad. Yesterday the dead Easter flowers were the last straw, the guy at the resgister that I had told said to me you must have a sensitive nose. Yea right, as these flowers were turning brown and throwing off a bad decaying smell. God forgive me this guy was no Beau Brummell with his dirty red t-shirt looking like he just rolled out of bed but imagine telling a customer that she is sensitive while your Easter flowers are turning brown and throwing off an odor reminiscent of the funeral industry. I have been going to this store for nine years but something needed to be said.. I like the way this store is so close to my home in Mt. Leb. but it is in need of some self-improvement in how to be a little better, like we all need at times. Mary who works there is Giant Eagle's jewel, she is so helpfull and nice to...
