Iāve tried inpatient 4x. Been at this sober thing for about 10 years since the very first time I accepted I was an alcoholic. When I last relapsed I was in Delray Beach, FL (rehab capital of the States. And by default, also the relapse capital. Donāt go there. I warned you.) It was there I met one of the top addiction therapists in the nation. He came through the drive-thru at my work and I said āMike. I need help again. Tell me where to go man.ā He said āGo to Utah. Thereās a place called Brighton. Just a beautiful facility, but the real value is the clinical program, itās absolutely top notch. Call me.ā Well I did, and he was right. It was the best therapy Iāve received. Ever. (And Iāve had a LOT of therapists.) I really think what sets it apart is a few things: 1) the 1:1 clinical treatment was intensive, customized and not cookie-cutter. It met me where I was at. 2) They donāt punish you for being an addict (ex: they let you have an iPod as long as it doesnāt have internet/camera. There is value in not taking things like that away; in NOT treating your clients like theyāre subhuman.) 3) Recreational therapy program is not just a schtick. A program this well-funded needs to be a part of every treatment program. I feel like a lot of treatment facilities have equine therapy or rec therapy and itās really just to make the brochures look good; you might do it once in 30 days. At BRC I think rec therapy was twice or 3x/week? And at least one of those sessions each week was an off-site event, like a lil field trip :) 5) Finally, the alumni program. Once youāve been thru BRC, the resources available to you afterwards are near unlimited. The value here is so high, it not only manages to help keep people sober, but it continually acts as this kind of āuniverse-centerā that draws people in to be active in the BRC community. Itās kept the same consistent people around for so long that this is where Iāve met some of my closest new friends. I havenāt made friends like this in over 10 years. This is due to 1) putting the current alumni director Clay at the helm, and 2) Iām pretty sure they REALLY fund this program well. I feel like other treatment centers that I had been thru put all the emphasis on in-patient, and alumni programs were like an afterthought, something they had to do because it was industry standard. They seem to keep Clay empowered to make the right decisions (after all heās the one in the thick of things out there) and keep things interesting. In March I will have 4 years sober. The most time Iāve ever had. Tomorrows are never promised, but it feels like this thing is...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBrighton recovery was the best experience Iāve ever had. This was a lot different than anything Iāve ever done before. Thereās truly so much to say about Brighton and how itās changed my life but it really has. While in there my therapist was MICKY and I we were able to get to the root of why I kept using. One of the things that we worked on was cognitive distortions. Garrett the Director is awesome and we worked On gender process and also healing the past. Thereās a set daily schedule that we follow from 9 oāclock in the morning followed up with intentions at 8:30pm. One of my favorite classes was rec therapy with Will and Cecily and every Tuesday and Saturday we would go out and do climbing, the planetarium, ropes course and so much more. But there was always a lesson involved in something to learn about why we went there. One of the things that I was taught was about the paradigm shift that I had to make in order to have that change in my life. It really made me feel a part of the community and because of these two Iāve really grown strong to love and always looked forward to the classes. They really had a impact on my life. If medication needs to be prescribed They have an amazing doctor and med techs That were more than helpful. I know this is long winded but thereās just so much to say about how this program was unlike any others. The food was cuisine and personal chefs. There was absolutely nothing in this program that I didnāt like. The only thing I needed to do was to show up and be willing and everybody there taught me so much. The recovery doesnāt stop there the alumni coordinatorās Clay and Brady put alumni events together that are a blast to go to. I believe there were more than 20 people at a mansion that was rented and we all played games and reunited. These two guys are very involved in continuing your recovery and thatās where it really counts is when you leave. Clay and Brady helped me to get involved And introduced me to other alumniās which now I call friends. I have a wonderful aftercare plan and feel my sobriety is solid. One last thing Iād like to mention are the LTās which means life techs. The techs Are always there if you need them. Getting sober isnt easy there are ups and downs and I have to say that the life techs have helped me just as equally to everyone else. If youāre Thinking Of which rehab to go to this is the one if youāre struggling and need Some help, please Believe me that this is the place. I hope to speak with you at one of our...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went through Brighton Recovery in 2018 and it was the best decision I could have made. It was the most supportive and positive experience I have had. From the therapists, to the on site staff, the cooks and even the cleaners, everyone was there to offer support and guidance through out my treatment. In the 4 years since my enrollment I have stayed active with the Alumni program with Brighton. This has honestly made the biggest difference in not only staying sober but my over all well being. The Alumni program has, and does, offer me a way to grow and to continue to strengthen my relationships with others in the recovery community. From visiting Moab, playing softball, roller skating, and movie nights, I have relearned how to enjoy and continue to do activities as a sober individual. The weekly group meetings are very informative and a great way to give and receive feedback from other Brighton peers as well.
I have so much support & many people to reach out to within the Brighton community if needed. During a brief slip up I had the Alumni program as well as my previous staff from Brighton were there to support me and get me back on track. Iām not sure if I would have been able to dive back into my sobriety so quickly with out that support. I have no doubt that they will always be there and there will always be there for me when ever I need it. Best treatment center & best decision I could have made for myself when deciding...
