I come in here about once a month and for the most part it's a pretty decent little club. Food I've ordered has been decent. I've had a few cocktails but mostly beer. The service can be pretty hit-and-miss. One cocktail server does such a phenomenal job. She recognizes you, is engaging and friendly and follows up regularly to see how things are going. On a recent visit we were in one of the small lower sections. The server walked right past us and back, then walked past us and back again, and again. Where we were it was it was impossible to come down without actually passing our table on the way to help the people she actually was helping. Finally she came down and she gestured one minute, and then did it again as she walked away but she never came back. After 25 minutes there we finally resorted to going directly to the bar. I started a tab. When I came next I ordered a shot. This bartender quoted $7 for my shot. I told him I had a tab so he entered it in the computer. I told my friends I'd never order a shot here again. My friend said they'd raised her drink price to $9 too and was a little disappointed. Later as I closed out and looked at my receipt I noticed that my shot was really only $5.50. Assuming I was paying cash the bartender had quoted me a higher price. When I mentioned this to my friend, she checked with other bar staff and learned that her drink should have really only been the usual $8, but the bartender had said $9 and she'd given him an extra dollar for a tip. The bartender was basically skimming by telling customers their drinks were more than they are, taking the amount off the top and then getting the obligatory tip as well. So not cool. Other than these issues and sometimes feeling like the place is gone beyond capacity and the lack of a coat check I'm pretty happy with the Royal and its location. Let the buyer beware if they keep that bartender long or somehow encourage that from...
Read moreThe atmosphere of the bar is very welcoming with nice lighting, giving me hope to find a new regular place to go with friends. unfortunately the rude staff, poor food, and awful service, gives me no choice but to warn people. we placed an order in person and waited 30 minutes for a meal of 2. with the long wait- my husband and i rush home; excited to enjoy our date night. halfway home i decide to check the food because of my allergies and dietary restrictions to find nothing we ordered in the bags. someone else’s order has been in our car for 5-10 minutes with my hands touching the food. when we get back to the grill, i assume the food will get thrown away as the staff have no way of knowing what happened to it- but no. they instead took it back and said they will give it to the correct person. while waiting on OUR food, a waitress stopped another staff member from handing our food to the wrong person. when we got our food, everything was cold and soggy- not to mention none of the special requests we asked for were fulfilled. throughout this whole process the staff was very rude and snarky although my husband and i were very kind and understanding. overall- considering the long wait, rude staff, poor service, and the horrible food, you couldn’t even pay me...
Read moreLet me first say this. I am a frequent diner so I have experience and expectations of how I think restaurant staff should treat guests. I really like coming here to eat because the menu is varied and the food is good. However, the service is annoyingly bad. If you sit at the bar the bartender will never remove your empty dishes even after they drop you the check! I mean I sat there one afternoon for over a half hour with my old dirty plates in front of me while the bartender just paced back and forth with nothing to do but talk to his server friends at the end of the bar. Wow! That’s bad.
In the service department.. I’ve eaten here and the girls are ok. But at times they have this arrogance about them which makes you feel like you’re intruding on their lives to come and sit in their section. There isn’t a warm welcome and they certainly won’t go above and beyond to ask you if you would like anything extra than the bare minimum. I’ve had to get up and walk over to a server station to get water or napkins or silverware a few times I’ve been there and it wasn’t even busy.
Cmon! Train your people to match the food. The food is good. The service staff is too busy hanging out trying to act cool than do their jobs taking care of us as...
