Land of Oz Arcades — Local services in Muscatine

Came across land of oz arcade website, looked at 2 videos (the mortal kombat 1 and mortal kombat 2 custom cabinet videos on the website and YouTube) I saw the cabinets and they looked amazing, I was sold and placed my order. Noticed all the good reviews do I felt good about it. Customer service was good up to this point. I was told the cabinet would take 2 weeks to build then be shipped. 3 weeks had gone by without any updates so I called and mike seemed frustrated when I simply asked for a status update, he was rude and said “it’s not like we can ship it to your house this minute” No i just wanted to know when it would be shipped, had no expectations that it would be delivered that minute and I was not trying to rush things. Wow. So I was happy when he said it would arrive in a week. He then sent an email with instructions, info and pictures. Red flag when saw the pictures, they were all low definition and hard to see details but right away I noticed the screen was totally crooked as well as the “mortal kombat” letters on the marquis. It concerned me because it was very noticeable and I was paying a lot of money for a new custom cabinet. Simply emailed mike and asked if it can be fixed. Right away mike calls me and says “ what are you talking about!….that thing is beautiful….people are lined up to have one of these!!!” Then he says “you know what…you can have your refund back” then hangs up the phone. I was looking for a 1981 Bally Flash Gordon pinball machine and found a couple on the market in various conditions. As a first-time pinball owner, I wasn’t sure what I would be getting into so I did quite a bit of research. After researching companies, reading dozens and dozens of reviews, and after a conversation with Mike Rankins (Owner) I decided to purchase from Land of Oz Arcades. I couldn’t be happier with my choice!

Mike & Lee’s team did an outstanding job bringing the 40-year-old machine back to life. The paint job on the cabinet is gallery quality-absolutely beautiful!! Their team went through all the components and replaced what was needed to make sure it was fully functional before I picked it up.

I traveled 7 hours to pick up the machine. The evening I arrived in town Mike & Lee stayed at the shop and went through some of the setup & maintenance items I needed to know. The next morning Mike met me at the shop extremely early to load the machine so I could hit the road before an impending snowstorm. What great customer service!

I have communicated with Mike several times with questions I’ve had after bringing the machine home. He has always been prompt with his reply, patient, and pleasant to talk with. Extremely Happy with this product- would recommend to anyone who is in need of an Arcade.

I am a Property Manager in NYC and I was tasked with purchasing an arcade for our brand new Amenity Center for tenants. I initially purchased one of those Arcade one up units off Amazon, but the leasing Agent didn't like the look or style. He wanted a Retro arcade. That's all well and good for him, but he's not the one who would have to get maintenance done on a 40 year old piece of equipment. That would fall to me.

I cant tell you how this drove me nuts. I spent a few hours researching this after being told to return the first unit and came across Land of Oz arcades. As far as I can tell they are the only outfit around that will build a Brand New Cab but with new components.

The other issue was Building ownership did not want to have one of those units loaded with Hundreds of games, they were conferenced about PC processing power once I told them about the potential find for a full size arcade unit which would be brand new.

I call up Land of OZ and they were extremely accommodating professional, and respectful. The unit they sent me, after timely shipping is a word of Art. Its the first thing people see when the come in to the Amenity Center and the last thing they see leaving.

If I ever have to do this again I know exactly where I am going.
