This childcare center has some strengths; the building is clean and well-kept, and the daily routine seems structured. However, our experience overall was not what we hoped for.
My biggest concern was when my son came home using a curse word that, after some conversation, we learned he had picked up from a staff member. That’s completely unacceptable in a childcare setting and a major red flag. We told administration directly and never received an apology from that employee. In fact, that employee never looked at us or spoke to us again and is still employed at the facility.
The center is also very rigid about nap time. Even though my son had clearly outgrown the need for daily naps, he was still required to stay on his mat the entire time (2 hours), with no option for an alternative. This often left him upset and overstimulated by the time we picked him up. The facility became so hyperfixated on it that it was all we heard about at pick up, one teacher stating “he was horrible.” This is mostly due to regulations for student:teacher ratios for breaks, but if your son is like mine there are other facilities that provide an alternative space for students during nap time to keep them entertained and engaged. They will pass it off as a “state regulation” that your child needs to be on the mat, but my suggestion would be to read the fine print yourself on the PA Gov website.
Another frustrating issue was the constant fundraising. Parents were regularly asked to contribute, but there was no communication about what the money was being used for outside of “for the student’s classrooms” or what (if anything) was purchased with it. It would be nice if they showed what our extra money went toward since tuition itself is on the more expensive side.
While they advertised a creative and active environment, my son seldom came home with any art projects or signs of hands-on activities, which didn’t match what we were told to expect.
While the center looks nice on the surface, concerns about staff behavior, lack of developmental flexibility, poor transparency, and minimal communication made this the wrong fit...
Read moreI cannot say enough wonderful things about Magic World!! Choosing an early childhood center is one of the most stressful decisions for a parent, but from the moment we toured, we knew we had found a special place. For the past 5 years, they have provided our child, Logan, with a safe, nurturing, and incredibly enriching environment. The teachers, especially Miss Brianne, Miss Brittany, Miss. Sasha, Miss Keeley, Miss Sarah and Miss Amy, are the heart and soul of this center. They are not just caregivers; they are dedicated educators who show genuine love and patience for every child. They know my child's individual personality, his strengths, and the little things that make him smile. The communication is fantastic! We get daily updates and photos through their FB page, so I always feel connected to his day. The curriculum is the perfect balance of play-based learning and structured activities. I've been amazed at how much my child has grown, not just academically, but socially and emotionally. In his time there Logan has learned to share, solve problems with his friends, and has blossomed into a confident, curious little person. The facility is always clean, bright, and filled with creative art projects. It truly feels like a happy place. Entrusting Magic World with our child has been the best decision we've made. We have always had complete peace of mind knowing he is loved, safe, and excited to go to "school" every morning. We are so grateful to be part of this...
Read moreMy son started attending daycare here at Magic World this past winter, and I cannot speak highly enough of our experience. When I brought him to his first day in the toddler room, I was very nervous because he had never spent extended time away from family, but I didn't need to be. My son loves attending Magic World, has made friends with several kids his age, and has a great relationship with all his teachers in the toddler room - especially Ms. Holly. We just moved up to another class this month, and we already like his new teachers as well.
All the staff (teachers and admin) are professional, kind, patient, and attentive. They do a great job of keeping me in the loop about how his day is, as well as his developmental progress. I also really like the structure of their curriculum, how there's seemingly always something new and fun happening. Attending here has been so good for my child's developmental and interpersonal growth, and I always know he's in good hands.
In addition, the cost of tuition is great compared to rates I've been quoted at other local daycare centers, and the level of care and structure provided is better than most other places I scouted locally. I would recommend Magic World to any family looking...
