Easy Riders Bicycle Rentals — Local services in Nantucket

This bike shop was closest to the house we stayed at, and was a little less costly than a couple others in town I called. I needed a bike with a trailer for a young child. The setup for my rental took quite a long time because the first trailer canopy was old and the Velcro was worn out and would not close the canopy. This was unacceptable. So they unhitched and had to look for another in the barn below the main house, which they did. The second, wasn’t much better, and the front wind flap did, in fact, keep lifting up as we rode. Finally I just rolled it up. I didn’t feel like my tires were inflated enough either for the increased rolling resistance. The bike itself was somewhat heavy, but of decent quality. I also had to ask for the helmets that were included in the rental. Easy to book, great customer service. I ordered the Deluxe Hybrid and was a little disappointed.

When ordering the bike they ask for your height to determine the bike size, but size is determined by inseam not height. So I was not surprised my bike was too small when it was delivered. The bike was in a bit rusty condition, had no basket, and grips were falling off. Also, the guy dropping the bikes off did not stick around to see if the bikes fit us correctly. The last issue is the handlebars were not wide enough for a tall person. Nantuckett is full of dirt roads, potholes, and cobblestone. A tall person with a wide frame should not be riding around with skinny handlebars.

All this being said, the bike did function properly and I was able to bike everywhere around the island. They also exchanged my bike for a larger size no questions asked...
