The Seagrille — Restaurant in Nantucket

My husband and I visited seagrille last night. We had time for one nice fancy meal on the island and this restaurant was suggested. We were told there was a dress code of smart casual. However, after arriving they let anyone come in dressed in any fashion including onsie outfits that look like swimsuit cover ups and hoodies. Very disappointed in the lack of adherence to the dress code posted which brings down the atmosphere of what u expect from a restaurant that requires a dress code and charges ALOT for their menu items. The waitress was name Tiana I think. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We have absolutely no complaints regarding her service. The lobster bisque was amazing. The oysters were good as well. We had the swordfish frites which were inconsistent with taste and texture. The broccolini had no real flavor and actually had a dirty taste. The fries were good. We also had the grilled lobster and fettuccine…. The taste was good. Lobster was tough and stringy but overall okay. We were just a little disappointed with the experience compared to the cost…. As a main-lander, I spent weeks looking for the right place to propose to my fiancé, and I couldn’t have picked a better spot.

Experience: The staff, including manager/owner/server/chef, made our special night the one of fairytales. I’m so great full for the amazing services and hospitality they provided us.

Food: We had the burrata as a starter with the provided bread, and the depth of flavor from just a simple appetizer was phenomenal. Our meals, including the steak filet mignom and chicken milnese were both cooked and prepared to perfection, and the portions were far larger than most comparable restaurants on the island. Lastly, the dessert, the buttercake with fruit topping and ice cream could have been a meal itself it was so delicious.

Atmosphere: The place was warm and inviting, modern but rustic, and had the kind of vibes that an outsider felt welcome. Most tables were locals, which tells you that even in the off season this place is...

One of the best places on the island. We go to nantucket almost every year. This year we were a little bummed on the food. But.... when we went to the sea grille we knew we would still have a place to look forward to. It its more on the pricey side, but with all the other places we went to, it was worth it. The lobster bisque is full of flavor and not shy of lobster. We enjoy the lobster mash because its an amazing twist and has a perfect balance between lobster and mash potatoes. The staff is kind and does their job well. We have never gotten a grumpy waitress. We enjoy the beet salad, lobster bisque, clam chowder, lobster mash, the lobster, and the salmon. It is very filling there so you don't need to stalk up on the food you order. Overall we enjoyed this place very much. We will always come here...
