I've been going to AFC for nine months now and love it. My favorite thing about this gym is the atmosphere. Besides being clean and well-maintained, it really feels like a community gym. It's unpretentious. As someone who is curvy and wanted to go to the gym to improve my physique, I was initially very nervous about people staring at me or judging me for using the weights. I've gone to other, bigger gyms like PF and I always felt like everyone was looking down on me, and worse, I was fighting for equipment. Not at AFC. Everyone here is going to the gym to work on themselves, whatever that means for them. While of course you have many physically fit people here, there are also people of all ages, sizes, races, men, women, etc, each sharing a common purpose. I've never had a problem snagging equipment I needed or felt like I was in anyone's way. In fact, trainers and members alike have told me they've seen great improvement in me, which makes me feel so great. That's the benefit of a smaller gym - the people there remember you and root for you.
I also love the boxing class. It's really popular here! I had never done boxing before and fell in love. It makes me feel powerful. Strong. And, best of all, disguises the workouts a bit! It's so much easier to work out when you're concentrating on pads and bags, and I end up burning 400-500 calories a session. Jason, and all the trainers, pay attention to your moves and help you improve your form. The classes are smaller too, usually around 10 people, so you can ask any questions you want and the trainers can pay attention to your form.

About a year ago, I decided to enroll at AFC and take advantage of the super affordable group training classes. I've always wanted to learn how to box, and the Cardio Kickboxing classes at AFC were absolutely PERFECT for beginners. As your skills develop and you become more comfortable with your technique, Jason is more than happy to tailor workouts to push you to your limits.
The boxing classes at AFC are the highlight of my week, not only for the high-calorie burning workout, but also for socializing with my boxing crew! AFC has built a wonderfully supportive community of members that make going to the gym genuinely enjoyable.
In the past 4 months I have lost 20 pounds of body fat, while building lean muscle. It's also worth noting that my energy levels, mood, and overall health are the best they have been in years.
Jason and AFC staff have re-ignited the passion for fitness that I forgot I had. Thanks to the continued support and mentorship that I have received, I am now pursuing a certification in personal training and will be coaching small group classes here at AFC!

The staff at the gym is friendly and more importantly so are the members. Everyone seems to be there to work, and I feel that there’s never any judgement being passed. This makes it enjoyable to go, and has enabled me to make the gym my habit again.
The gym has a ton to offer as well. With a huge open space for all sorts of training (sleds, Big tires, ropes, heavy bags, etc), it makes it easy to change up your workouts so that you don’t get bored. Furthermore, there are group classes almost everyday and they offer personal training (which includes dietary education) as well. I decided to sign on to personal training to add a level of accountability and keep me on track. I have to say, Michelle is an amazing trainer and mentor, and I know she truly cares about the success and results of her clients.
