on september 29th 2012 I put a 50.00 dollar deposit on a mattress and boxspring for layaway and i explained to mark i get paid monthly its free to layaway and i would pay more by the end of october 2012 and make the last and final payment at the end of november 2012 so the total balance that was left to pay as of yesterday october 25this only 220.00 two hundred twenty bucks thats all not a big purshase yesterday he calls me on october 25th in the morning and leaves a message about not getting any more money fot the layaway and blah blah OMG it hasnt even been a month since my deposit i was planning to pay on the 29th of october next week but he said he needed it now thats not how layaway works... are you kidding me ? so i ask if i can get a store credit instead as I cant make a payment octber 25th and he rudely replies he will send me a check i paid cash and it was for my 12 year old son whom i told he was getting an awesome new bed for a early christmas present but now i have to tell him he is not getting that super nice bed and i am so sorry so i read the slip agreement and there were no written dates or agreed terms at all on the slip and how he became a BBB member is a mystery clearly he should not be honored as a member with that organization... he was rude, and his tone, uncaring unprofessional, no apology, and just mean... both in his message he left and to me when i called back to speak to him about the crazy message.. i promise to never ever enter his store again and now, nor will any of my friends and family i can only assume he most likely sold it for more money to another customer since it was the only one left and a showroom display model his actions and words prove his intent was to get rid of me and my layaway most horrible expierence in my life all reading this i give honest and fair warning to those who consider shopping there it will be unpleasant and another bad sign is he over posts on craiglist hogging repeating listing multiple postings each and everyday because most likely repeat...
Read moreI give 2 star's. The 2nd star is for a "small" favor he did for me. Let's get started: I bought a bed and a kitchen table, off of him 7 1/2 month's ago. The bed is GARBAGE at best! I am now needing to look for a new bed, because the one I bought from him; has caused me some MAJOR back problems, due to it's poor quality. I have trouble getting to sleep on this thing, that's for sure! So yes as mentioned; I am back in the market for a new bed (7 1/2 Month's Later).
The kitchen table: It is also very poorly constructed, about a week after I had purchased it and had it in my home; I was working on my laptop and felt something cutting into my leg, I looked down and a piece of medal (On one side) had come apart, from underneath the chair. So now I have 4 chair's, and 1 of them is an eyesore! I guess while I'm at it, I might add that the cushions on the chairs are VERY uncomfortable after about 10 minute's of sitting in them. The table as well will be making its way out of my home at some point (Down the road some).
His customer service skills match the quality of his merchandise (Read above) he is very "Snarky" most of the time. I have also found him "Unreasonable" in other word's: If it won't work for him, than it won't happen period! I guess what I'm trying to say is: Once he makes a few bucks off you, then his job is done. It doesn't matter to him, if the thing's he sold to you, fail early on (as what happened with me) he can't be bothered by it! You'll at the most get a "Shoulder Shrug" and an "Oh Well"
This review I hope will change the mind of some, before they throw money away at him. I'm pretty unsatisfied all around. Like I said: I gave 2 star's, out of pure generosity; because he did do me a "small" favor and not charge me 20 dollar's to go 3 minute's away. How "kind" of him...
I don't think I'll be returning to Mark's Furniture. I will buy from Bob's, and maybe get my new bed to last ATLEAST 1 whole year...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I recently moved in to an apartment together and needed some new furniture. We shopped around the usual places and saw some items that we liked. We then went to Mark's and found the exact same bedroom set we wanted at a warehouse store for $100 less and Mark had no problem delivering it (and a dining set) to Manchester for less!
The only hiccup was that the mattress we ordered was delayed a couple of days. Mark called us up two days before our scheduled delivery date and informed us of this and that he still planned to deliver our other furniture on time. Despite the 2 deliveries made, he only charged us for the one. We love all of our new furniture!
Listen, the big stores are great. If you want a lot of variety to choose from or higher-end furniture, hit those places. But don't forget to check out Mark's after you shop around; you could find a better deal...
