This Kroger is an absolute disappointment all the way around and if I could give it one quarter of a star I would. We've lived less than a mile away for over a year and make the trip to the Green Hills Kroger the vast majority of the time. Tonight I ran in for a couple essentials and ran laps around the place since they have continuous rearranging in progress, and have for a couple months now.
My husband went in to pick up a gallon of milk & a rotisserie chicken 2 days ago. An employee was stocking room temp sweet acidophilus milk into the open faced refrigeration case. When my husband brought it to a manager's attention, he responded with little concern and did not address the health violation. Also, the rotisserie and baked chicken were setting in the open faced hot display case, but there was no heat and all the lamps were off. Of course, we did not get that milk or the rotisserie chicken.
The produce section is sparse nearly all the time, and is often about 75% empty. I planned on picking up some grapes a while back, but when I saw the dirty floor mats draped over the grape cooler, and the cooler not running & at room temp, I was apalled. I've included a photo of that occurrence.
It never fails that there are at least one, and sometimes several routine items on my grocery list that are out of stock... this happens consistently. There have been numerous other issues, but when bringing them to the attention of the staff and management, there is never interest to improve upon or make corrections.
The are hardly any check out lines available after 6pm other than self check out; and there's regularly a line of about 25-30 people waiting far too long to get through the line for the only checkout option available. There has been a "Click list" addition to the building, along with "Click list" parking spaces a few months ago, but it is still not operational. I wouldn't trust it if it were, at this point.
Any self-respecting person wouldn't be doing yourself a favor, you'd be protecting yourself from mental anguish and a strong likelihood of food borne illness, even if you have to drive a bit further, to get your groceries elsewhere.
I've been hearing chatter about a Publix possibly being put in the immediate area. Sure hope so, and soon. The threat of competition is the best motivator to encourage them to clean up their act. I would expect the masses would flock to Publix. We sure wouldn't hesitate to take our business exclusively elsewhere. For 2 years we've stopped shopping at Walmarts due to similarly disturbing situations. Hmm, something to consider... Kroger may be...
Read morePlenty of carts available when I arrived. I picked up the last two of my favorite packaged salad. I wanted three, but that was all that was available. Went to the bacon section. The same four packs of my choice that were there for the last four visits was there. I chose not to purchase a pack because they were not in acceptable condition. Picked up several items I needed in addition to the Kraft Extra Sharp cheese that were never available until my 88 year old mother inquired. The store has a stocking problem. Went to check out at 8:45pm (Sunday, 8-27-17). Informed the line was closed even though there were several employees there including the manager on duty. I then parked my basket in self service and went to the customer service counter. I stood there for a while. The employees were busy talking and one looking at his phone. The MOD was 15 feet from me, but they all ignored me so I asked the MOD, Ms. Linda, if I could get some help please. She smartly answered, " customer service is closed", as if I was bothering her. I ask, so I can't get cigarettes. With the same begrudging attitude, she instructed an employee to get what I want so that I could go to self service. She did not know I had a basket there already and her smart attitude was not helping. I had no intention of trying to be checked out there. The young lady at self service was, as usual, diligently doing her job. If Safety and Security were to review the store tapes, you may want to make some changes. As a retired Customer Service Trainer, I find this store poorly...
Read moreI asked a Kroger employee in the dairy section for assistance. He told me "no" and when I said I only need one question answered, he told me to "drop dead and die". I kid you not. The manager on duty took a statement from me and I wrote corporate the next day. They wrote back and offered me a $10 coupon. LOL I did not want a coupon. I wanted a phone call from the store manager or corporate apologizing and assuring me that the man didn't work there anymore. Oh, another employee stopped me on the way out to tell me they were sorry and had heard what happened...he said I was not the first customer that the employee had talked to like that. WHAT?!!! Why on earth did he have a chance to do that a second time? Anyway,, I received no phone call from a manager or corporate. Over 30 years of shopping at Kroger, tens of thousands of dollars spent in there and this is how they treat a customer who has been wronged. Publix cannot get built fast enough on 8th Ave. S. Right now, we are using Piggly Wiggly on West End and they and their manager are just great people. Won't be returning to Kroger...ever. I am so sorry that we let them run out and destroy our hometown grocery, H. G. Hills. Kroger was the WalMart of the grocery business. They came into Nashville and undercut H.G. Hills who did not have their buying power and could not match their prices. This is...
